The real reason the Cowboys lost? Lack of Pass Rush

The loss of Spencer, Ware, Ratliff, and Crawford have left the DL decimated. Marinelli has been maximized every ounce of talent out of a bunch of "try hard" journeyman types, however, there is no hiding the gaping hole that is the DL at this point.

The only thing they can hope for at this point is that Ware comes back healthy and stays healthy the rest of the season.

The Cowboys lost because they were dominated on both lines today.

It's a minor miracle that it even went to the end with how they were pushed around.

I wholeheartedly agree! I said at the beginning of the season that this team will go as far as our DL will take us.

Both Lion and Bronco QBs have all day to pick our secondary apart. You can only cover good receivers for so long. There were a few time Staffer had all day to wait for Megatron to come open.

I think we will be ok at S position but DL will need major upgrade in the off season.

Well, this defense is highly dependent on getting a good pass rush. Don't get it, the D gets exposed repeatedly.

We have no pass rush. No run blocking.

We are good enough in other areas to keep games close but with those two things we would hardly ever lose.

One more sack in the 4th or one lousy rushing first down in the last 2 drives and we win period

I hate that Romo gets knocked down hard but opposing quarterbacks go untouched. I was hoping that Selvie, Hayden, etc. could keep up the pace, but the clock has struck midnight and Cinderella has lost her slipper.

There are a lot of reasons why we lost. But yeah, the pass rush just isn't getting there.

Hatcher looks like a one man gang out there.

Eh... the pass rush left it all on the field on the 2nd to last series. Even pushed the Lions back early with a big sack from Hatcher.

The offense just didn't know how to close out the game.

Detroit has great pass protection. So don't get too far down.

Good post. Some of only few today. Thanks for that.

But i doubt Ware will be such a big upgrade when he comes back. He doesnt play very well as of lately.

You are so right. Not for the 4 turnovers we had simply no business in this game.

Might have been a different story if the offense wasn't constantly going 3 and out, the D was the only thing that kept us in this game for the first 3 QTRs. The only thing worse then a bad DL is a tired bad DL

The offensive game management and playcalling simply has no clue.
And to be honest i guess that will stay this way as long as Garrett and Romo are that much involved in everything.

To be honest i dont expect alot from this offense this season if playcalling stays that way. Except the Denver game - which by the way was the only game where we played up to our strenghts - this offense has done nothing.

There are many things wrong with this team and pass rush is one of them (I would suggest being able to run the ball is another big one).

But you can't just blame injuries to the DL.

This defense has fallen of the face of a cliff around about the 54-56 min mark in too many games these last 7-8 years even with Ware, Spencer, Ratliff etc. in the line-up.

I don't know why but at this point it's one of their MO's.

And I’m not sure throwing first round picks at the DL is going to fix it.

We have problems on offense. We have problems on defense. We have problems with coaching and play calling on offense. We have problems with coaching on defense. What this all adds up to is another year at .500 and we are lucky to be in a ****** division or that .500 would be even less.

Lots of work to do - LOTS.
