We have problems on offense. We have problems on defense. We have problems with coaching and play calling on offense. We have problems with coaching on defense. What this all adds up to is another year at .500 and we are lucky to be in a ****ty division or that .500 would be even less.
Lots of work to do - LOTS.
Some of the posters here hit around the problems, but it has been the same for awhile: 1. The defensive line in a good defense is able to push the center of the pocket or collapse the pocket, this is where good tackles come in. 2. For a run game to be effective and the pocket to be good for the QB to do his reads you need good guards. 3. To run out the clock or gain yards, you need a running back who can find holes and still push the ball for 5 yards when the holes are not there. The Cowboys do not have the players to make these types of plays.
As I have mentioned before, the team needs to go offensive guards, then defensive tackles, and then running back. But Jerry wants to sell jerseys, so he goes for the specialty players whose names fit better on the backs of jerseys. The Lions at long last have figured this out and shows with gaining 600 yards and allowing 265 yards. If it was not for the turn overs the score would have been like the Washington and Denver game.
Oh well, we will just have to remember the way the team got Super Bowls in the 90's because we will not see one with Jerry there making draft chooses.
