The Reason Vikings dont blitz much...

i notice a few of you said, they don't blitz, because they are bad at it.....

no..they dont blitz because they cant cover well....especially in man..look at most teams that base their D off of Zone...or cover 2

Colts...Bucs...Lions....cards......Bears...ect none of them have real good cover men/athletic DB's...so they keep everyone in coverage and rely on the front 4

if we can protect Romo vs their front 4, and he can have success, this may force them out of there D and blitz, if they do this...its over

I'm actually not too worried about this game as i was last week....Eagles can blitz...play man...and Zone

but that being said I'm still a little nervous because at the end of the day..it is thier house, and this is Favre we are going up against(always has a magic play)

I think you have to blitz Romo if you wanna beat the Cowboys. he's grown up as a qb and is in the zone right now. If you only rush 3 or 4 he's gonna find Witten or Crayton in an open space. I know Romo is very good against the bltz but with the way he's playing right now I don't see a team beating us without blitzing Romo.

Actually they don't blitz because they don't have to. They led the NFL in sacks by for the most part just sending four.

Cover 2 teams don't blitz. That's why they invest so heavily in defensive tackles and ends. If they blitzed their LBs it would take away everything the defense is about, which is basically covering the whole field in a zone except the deep outs.

If a cover 2 team can get pressure on a QB with the 4 man rush, it's very hard to let routes develop that will get guys open. The problem for them is our O-Line is fully capable of stopping all that pressure and then Romo will pick them apart.

As much as people are talking about how scary Allen is and how the Williams brothers stop the run, the real key matchup will be not letting the Williams brothers collapse the pocket from the interior on passing plays.

the key is not letting jared allen run wild, if you stop allen it won't matter what favre or the vikes offense does

my concern if i was a dallas fan would be more about AP than favre anyway but the vikes oline and AP seems crappier than usual lately

I'd like to agree with you but the Green Bay game suggests otherwise.

A team does not need to blitz Romo to beat the Cowboys. They simply need to apply pressure. The Vikings have the ability to do this without blitzing, for the most part.

I disagree. I think like Parcells said "at some point you'll WANT them to blitz" I don't agree at all w/people who say you blitz Tony to beat him.

Tony is getting better at reading who is coming and he can always dodge one or two guys who spring loose.

I think if I was a Viking DC that I'd play 5 and 6 quick guys in the secondary and try to close windows. Go for deflections and INTs.

That is the key to the game for both clubs. Pressure on the QB. I think our front five will get more pressure than their front four.

I'm with Rampage, if they rush 4, I can't see Romo even breaking a sweat.


People could call our Oline overrated but one thing I've noticed over the past 3 or 4 years is that teams don't get pressure with rushing just 4 guys on Romo. I can't remember the last team that had success doing that.
