The Romo of old

It seems to me that Tony is a bit more controlled nowadays. He is not so fast to break out of the pocket and run. He still slings the ball around, but even now he seems to be a little more conservative (except in the red zone where he smells blood). I keep waiting for the QB draw near the goal line, but don't think we will see it, at least not until the playoffs.

Even tough his experience amounts to less than two fulls seasons as a starter, I have seen a change. The new Tony Romo is a more mature player, and his experience has made him a better field general. But I do miss some of the old wild man play he used to make. It is early in the season, and he may revert at some point, but I think he will remain a little more conservative.

I am not saying this is a bad thing. He has thrown for about 1000 yards in his first three games, even if I call it conservative. He will remain healthy the way he is playing right now, but I do miss the wild man.

At times I actually wish he'd just take off and get the 7-10 yards that he might be able to get on a scramble rather than waiting around all day to make a big play and then either getting sacked or throwing an INT.

Every now and then it would be better if he just used his feet and got some yards.

I think Tony's made big strides in improving as a player.its good to know when he takes the field,we have a great chance to win the game, and I wasnt shure about that last year. This season is way different than last season!

I think alot has to do with his arm being worth MILLIONS. I dont think ole jerry wants to risk an investment.

I am sure he has been advised not to so he won't get hurt, but I would like to see him just go instead of throwing the ball into coverage in the end zone. It would force the safeties and LB'ers to stay closer to the line to stop him and open up the back of the end zone.

But I don't want to see him get hurt either.

Nah. He and Garrett discussed this running around like a mad man. Garrett thought one of the line men would end up getting hurt so he instructrd that Romo just take that step up into the pocket. He worked on it all offseason.
He looks good.

Romo is a student of the game and has watched Brady and Manning, they move around within pocket and get it out. Steve Young really won later in career toning back running around.

I like Romo staying in there and getting it out and making plays. We are scoring what 32 points a game?
