It really doesn't matter what they do, he'll never be a championship-caliber QB. He just doesn't have the "it" factor that you need to be a champion.
Sure he does.
He has the "it" factor in spades if they will get things in order otherwise.
It's not too much to ask to have a respectable run game, protection and defense...not dominant, just respectable.

I mean, before they won it, did Joe Flacco and Eli have the it factor? If anyone said "yes" they would be lying. Now, after the fact, maybe some will change their tunes...but not before, for sure.

Took Brees 8 years as a starter to have the "it" factor took Peyton Manning 9 years to have the "it" factor prior to that he was the guy who could not win the big game be it college or Pros, he put up great numbers but no SB.

Team has a lot to do with the IT factor.

He's had that at times in the past, and it's been one-and-done in the playoffs. He's just not the kind of QB that carries a team, but not many are. He's going to put up decent statistics in the regular season, then crumble in big games. That's just who he is.

Romo is getting long in the tooth, and his best years are definitely not in front of him. We don't have 8 or 9 years for him to figure it out. It's a hard reality to accept, but that's just where we are.

I posted this alittle late. But did before they lhelped lead their teams to Super Bowl wins did anyone, anywhere thnk Joe Flacco or Eli manning had the "it" factor? I'm pretty sure not.

You'd be surprised how quickly things can change.

I agree that 2007 is an example of when there was a good team around Romo--I would say not as good as it's record, but good certainly enough to cause trouble.

But with that team the results where pretty good--13-3, Divison Title, 1st ound bye, and close loss to the eventual Super Bowl winner.

I think Romo is a better player now than then, btw. That was only his 2nd year starting.

Funny 2011 season and even before that many Raven fans did not think Flacco had the IT factor and sounded a hell of a lot like some Cowboy fans here about Romo. :laugh2:

BIG TIME

Same with Eli, pre playoffs 2007.
He was in his 4th year as a starter and still had not won a playoff game (or his team hadn't).
.
But by late 2007 that defense was taking over games and Eli was getting very comfortable in the offense. They got on a roll and they you go.

444 - I don't want to beat you up because I like your posts, you're fair and reasonable but let me just say--

First...decent statistics? C'mon man, regardless of what you think about post season appearances you cannot question the fact that he has and will continue to put up huge numbers. Give credit where it's due.

Second - crumble in big games? Same old argument - if he doens't win "big" games for us down the stretch there never is a "bigger game."

Third - You can't know who he is before his career is finished. This team has had fatal flaws and he has overcome them the best he could. Can he play better in those "big games" Hell yeah, nobody would dispute that, but to say that's who he is is simply not true because the book is not closed.

He's the guy for the next five years so I would hope you give his skill set and talent the benefit of the doubt and expect him and the team to win.

I bet there will be a lot of no huddle next year. And that is a good thing.

We should run it a few times a game IMO. Whether it's Romo calling the plays, or Garrett, for whatever reason our offense just clicks. I don't know if Tony over thinks the defensive schemes and this cuts down on his time to do that or what exactly it is, but when we need to move the ball in a hurry we have a lot of success.

Heck, start the game out in no huddle every once in a while. I think we went on a near historic streak of not scoring on the opening possession at some point this year and last year. We start way to slow. Outside of the TB and Seattle game, I can't think of another game we produced more in the first half all season. Going off memory so I may have missed some. Point being it happens to often and the hurry up certainly helps us.

My gut tells me that Romo will sign his deal by the weekend or early next week
Th extension will be 5-6 year 120 million dollar deal with 35-40 million guaranteed.. Basically it will amount to a 3 year extension and romo will probably collect about 55-60 million on the deal
