That play was an embarrassment...

Yeah those trick plays are just embarrassing, especially when they work... unless it's Sparano calling them, in which case it's referred to as 'offensive genius'.

Are people really suggesting that we need more variety in our playcalling and offensive gameplans?

That sounds just crazy enough to work!

Bring back west coast principles IMO.

During the game I was pretty sure it wasn't a designed play. Not sure why Witten had got behind Romo, but maybe he was supposed to be in the flat as an outlet for a TO deep route.. when Romo got flushed he went to his outlet and Witten probably realised he received the ball going backwards and could throw if he needed to.

It looked so clumsy though, any hope that we would come out better in the second half evaporated with that play. We were all over the place, and it starts with OL protection.

I was really hoping that the success on the play would be the spark that got us back on track. Regardless of how it looked, it could have be a momentum shifter.

I don't know if the Boys need a ton of trick plays but I would like to see more diversity of calls to force defenses to be on the heels a little more. Things like the simple pitch to Choice that he dropped in the Philly game. Earlier in the year they had some good success with misdirection tosses back to Felix. I would love for Romo to pull the ball down and run 4yds for a 1st down or call a simple QB roll out. Rolling out may not be the strength of the Oline but couldn't you try it 1 or 2 times a game for some diversity?

The "trickiest" they got seem to be WR reverses and I would put forward TO or Crayton aren't great running them. I would rather see Crayton or Stanbach fake a reverse and throw the ball just once. Just to give defenses one more thing to plan/worry about.

With Felix out, the team just didn't seem to present enough threats to concern or keep defenses on their heels. I think Felix in the short passing game and Romo selectively running (and not throwing prayers) is an easy beginning to making defenses have to prepare/play vs Dallas.

Yep, the three of them drew it up in the dirt.

How freaking pathetic is Garrett that the best play of the game was drawn up in the dirt by the QB, TE, and WR.

How anybody can still defend Coach Tecmo is beyond me, I would just as soon let Romo call all the plays on the field, he certainly couldnt do any worse and we save $3 mill.

I will defend him. Our blocking and overall execution was terrible. He is in his 2nd year as a coordinator (ever hear of a sophomore slump) and will only get better as a coach after this type of year.

It's amazing how fast people are ready to dump things and move on.
