Harbaugh was made to leave, and Tomsula was appointed head coach before the end of the season.

This means they violated the spirit of the Rooney Rule - big time.

The only question is how many draft picks they will lose here.

Violating the spirit of the Rooney Rule is kinda business as usual, isn't it? Certainly no draft picks have ever been taken away. (Or am I missing the sarcasm?)

Its one thing to interview token condidates for the rooney rule its another to do it after its already been decided prior to the season ending that candidate has the job and has to wait out the Rooney interviews. Harbaugh threw some gas on this fire and now we can see how much damage control 49ers can spin.

Apparently they have no idea what they're doing. The were hot on Denver's OC and for some reason he backed out last minute, which is why Tomsula became the coach.

Al Davis reborn in Frisco. Just a clueless organization.

They didn't violate the rule as long as they interviewed minority candidates. That's really what the rule is about; not trying to force teams to hire minority candidates, but to give the minority candidates an opportunity to get hired and get recognized while learning what the interview process for a HC position is like.

I think the Niners are done because it's obvious that Baalke and company think that *they* are the reasons for their success. This is a HC driven league and you need a coach that is good at developing talent. And when those GM's think they are great and they are the reasons for the team's success....well, we've seen how that has worked out.

Apparently Gase turned them down at the last minute because the 49ers told him that a requirement of getting the job was agreeing to hire Tomsula as his DC, when he wanted Fangio or Vance Joseph from Cinci.

Not sure who in the 49ers org Tomsula has dirty photos of, but they sure do seem attached to that guy.

I saw that after my post.

Also saw Tomsula turned around and asked Gase to be his OC but not sure if that was a joke or not.

Hey. I don't agree here.
Give the 49'ers 15 years to achieve the lack of success the Raiders have. Then we'll talk.
