The season is over these trades are too late

I don’t get why everyone is bringing up Q’s age as if it’s a bad thing. When we traded Micah everyone in the media and on this board talked about how he was just 26 years old and in the prime of his career. Quinnen is 27 years old and that’s an issue. I’m not a mathematician but that’s only a 1 year difference. So if Quinnen has to stay productive for the next couple seasons for this to be a good trade and he’s 27 then the same should be said for Micah in Green Bay who is 26.
The one thing no one talks about is micahs bad back. He is taking pain injections just to play.
How long will he be able to play with the bad back?

The main thing is micah is toothpaste out of the tube lol. It isnt going back in.
Cowboys wont get him back no matter how many cry and complain about it. It is a done deal.
All we can do is accept it and move forward.

At least jones boys got a good defensive line player, and the DT so many here have wanted for a decade.
Ist at the wrong time of season yes lol but again thats how it happened we cant give him back and get the picks back.

It will most likely not help get into playoffs this season , but hey anything is possible.
It is what it is, this is how jones boys operate , not much we can do about it.

They did what they had to do to put butts in seats. Wins and playoffs don’t matter at this stage.

We have 3 wins after 9 games. Mathematically a 7% chance of making the playoffs. It’s over . There is no season to save. You lost any last gasp hopes last night.

Throw in a brutal schedule after LV with Phil, KC , Det, Minn and LAC in consecutive weeks. That’s probably 4-10-1. With possibly a couple crap meaningless games end of year against Wash and NYG nobody will care about. 6-10-1 MAYBE…

This team is washed up. Even this offense we can’t count on but if AZ can stop it these playoff contenders coming will . And run roughshod over this defense + Williams.

These trades were needed weeks ago and or before the season. The AZ loss makes these a waste of time this year. Total waste of assets to prop up the season.

So we basically only have one1st round pick plus Williams less a 2nd rounder for Micah. Bravo Jethro. Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse. You crapped the bed again. Pitiful!!!
These trades are not meant to save this season. It's also much harder to make these trades before the season, or early in the season.

the one nice thing about these trades is that they are her for the next two years. so perhaps there is push for this year. lets peak at the right time at the end of the year. but also we still have two first rounders next year and can add more to the defense. the key is going to be resigning Pickens and Tagging him is a legit option.

This team aims for the middle. They have for decades now. Jerry used to blow up free agency like he was Steinbrenner only to find out that the salary cap was real and difficult to manage. Now they just try to hit the dart board instead of the surrounding wall. Does not always work out though. Two games below 0.500 and they make a win now trade move. Everyone on the board saying this is for next season. Then why the rush at the mid season deadline instead of the off-season? Next season becomes the all or nothing year. If the draft in 2027 shows up and the Cowboys have given a top five or ten pick to the Jets….

The move is to attempt to avoid what’s going to happen this season next year. Not as many fans caring or invested in the on field product. And that’s the main concern for Jones. And the reason for the timing of this trade. This is a desperation move to keep the leftover Dak years from turning into Campo years.

IMO, the value of these trades will really hit next year if they pair them with some more added talent on defense. This FO struggles with true roster building as opposed to just acquiring players.

Roster building centers around the idea that it takes all 53 players to compliment what the team is trying to be. Our FO has tended to pay a few “stars” and then expect every other player to work out, regardless of whether or not their skills support the rest of the roster.

You don’t build a great team using fantasy football methods. It takes having a vision of what you want to be as a team and build an entire complimentary roster. This FO has yet to prove they can do that in the cap era.

Upgrades at any position are always good. Maybe they paid too much for Williams but he is still a good player with a couple of years left on his contract. Even so I think expectations are already way to high.

The Cowboys should be rebuilding and in that case trading for Williams and Wilson makes no sense, but their QB is in his 30s and they paid him $60 million per year so they boxed themselves into a window. Williams fits in that window. It may be unrealistic or foolish but it is what they created.

I agree that this season is pretty much a done deal for Dallas but Jerry still thinks they can make the playoffs. Jerry is awful at evaluating his own team.

To me, the Logan Wilson one is TBD, but the Quinnen Williams once was fantastic. Yeah, the price felt a little steep, for sure, but we all know what kind of player he is. If this FO can have a solid draft.......and I know this is asking a lot........but also have a solid FA period next year, they could turn this defense around faster than people think.

I know, I know.....it’s a lot to ask when it comes to trusting this FO, but as a fan, you’ve got to give me something to hold on to.

Why do people listen to the haters and the "dumb as a rock" Dallas Media, especially the Dallas twitter idiots.

IT'S A MULTI YEAR DEAL...WOW. You don't understand they get attention by trolling?

Jerry made these trades to suck fans back in only. Jerry refuses to fix the Eberflus problem and the Jerry GM problem. How do you expect the defense to be better if you continue to keep a poor coordinator.

I'm hoping Williams is rejuvinated and plays at his all-pro level, the other guy I have no idea, hopefully he is better than Sanborn. Only probem I have is that this probably means the DC is back again next year, unless the Cowboys continue to fail miserably the rest of this season.....then maybe Jerry lets him go....but thats a big maybe.

I preferred not to give up a 1 in '27, but hopefully both GB and us have picks in the mid 20's or lower to soften the blow. At that spot in the draft, we are unlikely to get a DT at the same level as Williams will be. Having him here now gives the team two bodies on the DL, as well as Eze developing. The wildcards are Overshown/Revel. IF things fall into place, and after the '26 draft, we could have an elite D. Now, if things continue south towards the end of this season, we still get a high pick in Rd 1

If you want to have hope, don't watch Get Up this morning, as the bimbo Martin, as well as the fat ex-C of the Colts, don't get it, and their Cowboys hate is too obvious

The QW trade was for the future, not just this season.

I think your dislike for Jerry is clouding your objectivity. I can see Jerry's plan pretty clearly now and its not actually that bad of a plan if I am being honest.

And you know I am not a resident homer here, I have been one of the most vocal critics of Jerry and the Cowboys for a long while, but the plan they are following is not actually that bad. It crystal clear now that the plan is to build the defense to average level while the offense is still one of the best in the league and should remain a top end unit for the next couple of years. You have a vet QB that has played fairly well this season, a good RB finally, a young offensive line you pumped 3 first round picks in, and a good set of WRs assuming they can extend Pickens or tag him.

You just need your defense to be average and you should win the majority of your games. So, how do you turn the worst defense into an average 18-20 range defense? Well, you add not one, but two probowl DTs, one that is arguably top 3 in the league. You stock pile multiple 1st round picks (Cowboys still have 3 of the 4 after the Parson's trade) and you have the cap space to add some free agents or extend current players (Cowboys have about $40 million in cap space, I think that is the 2nd most cap space in the NFL).

This is what Jerry meant when he said trading Parsons was the best way to help Dak get to a SB (or at least a conference championship game). Keep the offense intact to remain one of the best in the league, which statistically they still are despite their record. Then use the draft capital and cap space gained from the Parson's trade to just get the defense to average level, that is really all that is needed if your offense is top 5 in yards and points.

So, you see you have to look at the big picture of what they are doing and it goes far beyond just this season. These are moves to set the team up to compete for the next several years, this year is irrelevant....................that is the plan, and like I said, its not that bad of a plan by Jerry.
I like a lot of what you say but I'll be honest...I don't think Jerry ever has a concrete plan and agree with a few things I've heard....the LB trade was a GM pick where you are trying to go cheap for someone that is an upgrade. I think the Williams pick was an owner splash pick to show people that things aren't lost after the Cards loss. I think that is how Jerry functions. I think everything you said looks like a great plan....I just don't think Jerry planned it that way. Cheers my man!

If they had traded that 2nd for Hendrickson that was rumored to be on the table, might have given us a small chance to win it out. But yeah, this trade is just more for self-respect on the field. LOL.

Parsons is 18 months younger and he has played 2 seasons less in the NFL.
Defensive tackles typically age well so I'm told - hopefully Williams will not regress too quickly.
I suspect the move was made for the wrong reasons - to appease fans for trading away Parsons which was arguably due to bruised egos.
Had Parsons been kept the team would likely be around 6-3 if you look at the close losses and if Williams was brought in at that point then I think pretty much everyone would be on board with this trade as it's a win now move.
As it is, this season is over so it's a bit of an odd trade to me.
Somebody said that Jerry's announcement was actually for Wilson, not Williams. Maybe Williams became available suddenly with the Jets fire-sale and the Cowboys thought it was too good to pass up. I mean Gardner was just traded to the Colts. So it wasn't a plan per say, the stars just aligned "accidentally".

I agree the season is already over but finally we've now acquired a quality DT, this sets us up well to addressing other defensive areas in next years draft.

start thinking in terms of getting better instead of wins and losses. I say that because we will see a taste of what's to come for this defense in 2026 the next few games. For me, we were never winning more than 6 games anyway this season. That was my win prediction on this mb in camp. Sometimes you must go backward in order to take steps forward. That's what this is. The Micah trade was a temporary but necessary function of what we wanna become later. Im not mad.
