A few days ago Jerry came out and said what many of us have speculated for some time.....in summary, he wants to win, doing it his way so that HE gets the credit he craves, never got etc...
Lets get this out the way...I know he is the owner and he can do what he wants.
If you follow basketball you will know that the Lakers owner died last week. What was interesting is that the GM of the Lakers, Mitch Kupchak, came out this week and admitted that one of the biggest reasons they fired Mike Brown after starting 1-4 was because of the age and failing health of their owner...and the sense of urgency to win in the next 2 years. Sadly if you are a Lakers fan, the owner died before he saw the current team win a title.
Where am I going with this?
The core of this team has NEVER won anything. But we will watch "core" players restrucutre their contracts. We will see "core" players re-signed. Why? Because Jerry thinks we are close AND at his advanced age he wants no part of a rebuild. How he can even talk about getting credit when we win a Super Bowl is just laughable. We need to make the playoffs first (something we have not done in 4 years). Then we need to win a couple of playoff games (something we have not done in over 15 years). And if we are forutnate to do that, we have to actually WIN the big game(something we have not done in almost 20 years).
It is bad when the "visionary" for your team has no desire to see past the next year or 2 because of HIS limitations due to age!
Look no further than our REFUSAL to add quality players to the trenches on this team. We have not done this in years. Why? First of all they lack sizzle. And they also take time to become NFL ready. But our "visionary" does not have "time".
So in parting....I say strap in, because not much is going to change any time soon...which for some of us is not a wake up call. We have been watching this re-run for almost 2 decades now!
