A few days ago Jerry came out and said what many of us have speculated for some time.....in summary, he wants to win, doing it his way so that HE gets the credit he craves, never got etc...

Lets get this out the way...I know he is the owner and he can do what he wants.

If you follow basketball you will know that the Lakers owner died last week. What was interesting is that the GM of the Lakers, Mitch Kupchak, came out this week and admitted that one of the biggest reasons they fired Mike Brown after starting 1-4 was because of the age and failing health of their owner...and the sense of urgency to win in the next 2 years. Sadly if you are a Lakers fan, the owner died before he saw the current team win a title.

Where am I going with this?

The core of this team has NEVER won anything. But we will watch "core" players restrucutre their contracts. We will see "core" players re-signed. Why? Because Jerry thinks we are close AND at his advanced age he wants no part of a rebuild. How he can even talk about getting credit when we win a Super Bowl is just laughable. We need to make the playoffs first (something we have not done in 4 years). Then we need to win a couple of playoff games (something we have not done in over 15 years). And if we are forutnate to do that, we have to actually WIN the big game(something we have not done in almost 20 years).

It is bad when the "visionary" for your team has no desire to see past the next year or 2 because of HIS limitations due to age!

Look no further than our REFUSAL to add quality players to the trenches on this team. We have not done this in years. Why? First of all they lack sizzle. And they also take time to become NFL ready. But our "visionary" does not have "time".

So in parting....I say strap in, because not much is going to change any time soon...which for some of us is not a wake up call. We have been watching this re-run for almost 2 decades now!

It seems the premise of your post is that Jerry makes the decisions he does because he is about to die. But then you say nothing will be changing any time soon. Are you assuming when Jerry dies soon nothing will change?

It must be bash Jerry and the Cowboys today and I am not a "backer" but why stress about things that you can't change. They are not going to change for a long time. I am a huge Lakers fan and I live in LA we hate all the coaches they have brought in including Brown and the joker who thinks he is bigger then the team who doesn't believe in defense. Also the Lakers don't believe in developing young talent or going after young players. We lucked into Earl.

If we have been watching this re-run for almost 2 decades now (I agree)...than that would kind of trump your whole premise that he is doing it now because of his age and wanting to win before he dies.

If he was doing it this way NOW because he wants to win before he dies...why would he not be doing something different now than what he was been doing for almost 2 decades now.

IOW...your premise is kind of flawed and without realizing you point out it out in your very same post.

I really think the JJ quote is being misrepresented. I think he was saying that he has been taking the heat for the last 15 years which he deserves, so make sure that you give him the credit when they finally win.

100% right on. Tho like most things Jerry says it get twisted around. I do wish he'd not say anything. He is too honest in my opinion.

I think MANY do not get my point. Jerry wants to do it his way. His way is to win YESTERDAY. So he will ALWAYS think we are on the verge for competing for a Super Bowl, so each year brings a "lets throw something up against the wall and see if it sticks". Winning the Super Bowl is very hard. It does not happen overnight. The most realistic fans do not expect to win the Super Bowl every year. They expect to be in the hunt more often than not. And to do that you have to BUILD it right. And because Jerry thinks the core of this team is the right core....he will keep trotting this core out there and change a few pieces around them. What other team holds on to players this long? Especially players who have never won ANYTHING. Especially players that have not built us into a consistent winner that is in the hunt? Can anyone actually say we are BUILDING towards something?
Romo
Miles
Witten
Ware
Spears
Hatcher
Ratliff

This core should have been broken up. They run the lockeroom. And they are who the young guns, Dez, Carter, Lee, Claiborne and Smith will look to as they develop into the next core. What do they actually see when they look at these guys?

I think with the 49ers you could see it brewing. And now it appears they are going to be in the hunt for a while. This is what I am talking about.

I think winning the SB is easier today than ever. You just have to get the Playoffs and get hot. Look at Balt and NY. Baltimore lost 4 out of their last 5 and needed a miracle to get out of the first round. Same with NY, they played some terrible football in 2011 and were a Miles Austin catch away from missing the playoffs. Dallas is just as close as those teams were.

Is that you Jerry? You failed to mention Baltimore had been in the playoffs 4 straight years! The Giants, with many of the same core players had been in the Super Bowl a couple of years prior. That type of SUSTAINED succes is because the organizations are built right from the top down. Jerry is delusional...and I am sure he appreciates fans that are delusional. We may get lucky...and make a run like Arizona did a few years ago...but look at them now. Is that what it has come to for this organization? Looking for a middle of the plate chest high fastball to drive out of the park? That is my point. Because of his adavanced age....and his desire to do it his way...he is looking to catch lightning in a bottle and go on a magical run. And that is exactly what is WRONG with our organization!

This thread would've been good in 2008, but I don't think Jerry defenders exist anymore.

what team do you think would cut 4/5 players who are top players of their positions in the NFL and call that" building"?

Witten / Ware - may be the best at what they do
Austin- Top 5 #2 WR
Rat- Top 5 at his position
Romo--Top 7 QB

and aside from Rat this last season all these guys are great team guys, ridding your team of guys like these does not help your goal.....

your whole premise is unsound

I am so freaking glad you aren't running(in your case ruining) the team! You and your pointless dribble!

Well, they did add Tyson Smith to the trenches. He is a quality player.

this sort of thinking is sure to fall on deaf ears (as evidenced by some posts already in this thread)

facts have no place in this discussion, so i will refrain from bringing up the 17 years of utter futility

the mantra now is: anyone can win, get in the playofs and hope for a miracle

actually having a plan and building a team is apparently over-rated

everything is the luck of the draw, the bounce of the ball, just bad luck

meanwhile the owner is raking it in hand over fist so he has no real incentive to change

he is dedicated to holding on for dear life because he is scared out of his mind that if he relinquishes control to a real GM and, perish the thought, he has success, that would be the last nail in the "jerry is a football idiot" coffin

so i believe, the dallas cowboys locker room has a plaque at the top that reads

"lose hope all ye, who enter here
at least until jerry is in control"

Oh cool another "I hate Jerry Jones" thread. Original.

It's all that's on the zone anymore. Jerry needs to hire a real GM. It's old, The dude would still have the final say and he would still write the checks and that is something that people fail to realize. He isn't handing over his check book and buisness to someone else just like people on this board won't hand over their business or check book to someone else. It amazes me that people don't understand that little fact. I hate what Jerry has done, but I am also realistic that if I used my money to buy this franchise it would start and end with me making the final call and writing the checks period. So I am not going to stress about what Jerry has done or is doing. The guy hasn't even named the stadium that he put a bunch of his own money up to build. Why would he give up control over his business that is making money hand over fist? I mean really come on.

You could half just said: Jerry is getting old and he be ridiculous cause he wants glory but his GMing stinks.

I am an important person and i feel liked you took undue time from me.
Well, mister, I like jerra. His heart is good when it comes to the Cowboys.
Bum Bright? I'd rather half jerra cause jerra cares. Cares, I tell you.

Also you are on thin icicles because this seems like a I-hate-Jerra post.

If i were a modulator i would give you a warning and send you spam like the warning and spam I got recently.
