The trades NFL experts think the Cowboys should make

Must admit the Wake idea is intriguing.

"Wake is getting up there in years, but he still has it," Dubin said. "On only 137 snaps for the Dolphins this year, Wake has 20 pressures, making him one of the most productive pass-rushers on a per-snap basis. If the Dolphins aren't going to use him on an every-snap basis, maybe the Cowboys will."

Wake just signed a one-year, $10 million extension with Miami that starts at the beginning of the 2017 season. His cap hit for the 2017 season is $7 million and then $7.875 million in 2018. He's also 34 years old.

I'd love to see them bring in a DE. I just doubt Miami would play with a two-game win streak and only being one game under .500 and Ajayi running like a man possessed. If they were 2-5 and the offense stuck in neutral I think we could get a guy from them.

I wonder how one becomes a "trade expert", would love to add that to my resume!?! Seriously though, unless bringing someone new in resulted in negatively affecting the great locker room chemistry we have going on, I'm all for taking a chance to improve the team and DL.

Maybe the Cowboys don't favor the idea of contributing to the power of any team that they might have to take on in the playoffs.

We really need to seize the opportunity we have this year. Post-2009 and 2014 are proof that long term success is not guaranteed in this league. Right now, you can count on one hand the number of fanbases that are happy with their teams play this year. This is a strange season where a lot of teams are struggling to play consistent quality football. Not the Cowboys. There is something magical going on here and the entire league knows it. This is the time to do a "Haley" deal to put us over the top. Go get Wake....if you're worried about the draft pick then get it back by trading one of our RBs to the Broncos who just yesterday lost CJ Anderson for the season.

Bringing in old Defensive players this year is pointless. Wake or his kind will not help the Cowboys goal of winning a SB. Draft defensive next draft and watch out. The club needs some hardnosed young players to give this defense a real identity. Next year, if a Haley or Harrison type player was available. Yes, add him and win a SB. But, the foundation of the defense needs to be stiffened first. Old retreads are not good enough.

It all depends on the cost. If you could get him for a late round pick, it would make sense. His contract isn't that out of control. You could cut him after this season for a $3M dead cap hit and cut him after 2017 for no cap hit at all. So he's not going to wreck your cap for years to come.

This conference is wide open and the one glaring need this team has is their ability to get after the QB. This notion that taking on older players stunts the growth of the team is bizarre to me.

Oh and the FA list this offseason for pass rushing ends is limited. JPP is probably the best pass rushing end available this offseason.

Wake is OK. Too me, the defense is just not good enough over all for a deep playoff push. That was the basis for my post. Wake is not a bum and can add something to the club. It just seems pointless this season. I Would go patch things up with Hardy first..he is a much better and tougher player than whatever else is out there. He is also available.

I was on the Hardy train as well but at this point no one has touched him which tells me he's more toxic than imagined.
