The trades NFL experts think the Cowboys should make

For the cheap price they paid, Atlanta made a good signing. Freeney, even with his 3 sacks, would arguably be our most productive pass rusher on 3rd downs.

It really was a no brainer signing.
We have guys on this team far younger who have supplied just as much of not more. That's why you don't waste money on past their prime guys.

So when we went on our run in the 90's, that was done solely through the draft? Jimmy didn't make any trades where he used draft picks for players??? hmmm...ok.
Or you could read the second part

i did read it. And you imply by what you wrote that you're only interested in trading away "spare parts" (I.e., positions where we have excess bodies) which leads the reader to think that you're not interested in trading PICKS away for acquiring a pass rusher this season. Limiting ourselves like that would be a mistake in my view.

I read your post REAL CLOSELY so either your weren't making your point clearly OR you meant what you wrote. If it's the latter my earlier comment still stands. There were plenty of instances where jimmy rounded out the roster by making IN SEASON trades to acquire players to bolstered those 90s teams - buoying their long term success (more than one season). The one glaring example being Thomas Everett. But there were also loads of special teamers acquired as well who contributed to our dominance in that phase of the game.

So, based on my CLOSE read of your post, I can only deduce that such a move now in your view would be some how derailing to our hopes of competing for championships over the next 10 years. To me that's either insanely hyperbolic or merely flies in the face of what we know to be true from Cowboys' history.

Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding you.

Never happen but if Kawann Short is on the block like is reported, he'd give the pocket a nice push.
Interesting idea... it's just that we have like 17,000 decent-to-good DTs and no ends outside of Lawrence. Unless he can play DE. :)

Welp I'd be happy to trade any of the 17k we have on the roster for Short. I think he is noticeably better than what they have.

There were not any reports connecting him to drugs while he was here.

I doubt he was clean here...coke was also involved in his first trouble. You don't date a coke head unless your'e...
Just think about it, NO ONE will touch him but he has NFL talent. They complained about his "partying" while here, they didn't say he was drunk at practice everyday. That is very uncommon; look at Gordon. Would be glad to be wrong tbh

False (kinda). There were no MEDIA reports but there were rumblings that Hardy showed up at meetings smelling like he just left Snoop Dogg's house.

The arrest was not while he was with the team. He might have done drugs but it was not being reported by the local media while he was with the team.

Not any credible local media.
Sure you can play that card if you choose but the fact that the league is starving for pass rushers (yet he continues to be unemployed) and he was just arrested for cocaine possession points to a pretty clear picture. But, by all means, play the "credible local media card", you'll look smarter than everyone when the dust settles, I'm sure.

I didn't say he did or didn't do it, but nobody was linking him to drugs while he was with the Cowboys which is what was stated in the post I replied to.

He got in trouble for drugs recently and people are now expanding on that to create rumors that he was doing it while with the team.

He is likely out of a job for the reasons that were actually reported (Disobedient to Garrett, arrested for Domestic Violence) and for what everybody saw (Knocking the clipboard out of the ST coaches hands).

Wake is OK. Too me, the defense is just not good enough over all for a deep playoff push. That was the basis for my post. Wake is not a bum and can add something to the club. It just seems pointless this season. I Would go patch things up with Hardy first..he is a much better and tougher player than whatever else is out there. He is also available.

That would have been my thinking until I started to consider the dominance of our offense and the surprising play of Claiborne, Irving, Brown.

Our secondary is above average...maybe even considerably above average. I think even with mediocre linebacking...if we could get a pass rush...we could definitely make the Super Bowl.

There aren't any dominant teams in the NFC this year.

First of all, no one is using his recent arrest to create rumors that he was doing drugs while he was here, Those rumors existed, literally, months before he was arrested. If anything they are using the arrest as confirmation of the rumors that they'd heard months ago (not the other way around).

Second of all, I agree with the bolded part. I also happen to believe that the drug rumors have likely played a part in his unemployment. No one in Dallas (at least from an administrative standpoint) is going to throw Hardy under the bus (publicly). They've had numerous opportunities and have taken the high road every time. But, this entire league is a network of connected people. If the rumors are true, you can bet on the fact that that information wasn't sealed in a hermetic tube and buried at Valley Ranch. The information may not have been shared with the media (on record) but it was certainly shared with other coaches/GMs around the league if/when they came looking for answers. But let's be honest, Hardy isn't out of a job because he's a drug addict (teams have overlooked that character flaw for decades). He's out of the league because he's a douchebag.
