Pro poker player Erick Lindgren made prop bet with other poker pros that amounted to various bets totalling $340,000.

Lindgren and fellow poker pro Gavin Smith had a $100,000 "disagreement" when Lindgren said he could shoot 72 holes of golf in a day -- while walking the course carrying his bag -- in 100-degree Nevada heat, and shoot under 100 in each of the four rounds.

In all, that's over 20 miles of walking over 14 hours, while playing from the pro tees, with $340,000 on the line!

See if he makes it:

That is a crazy bet. Does the link say how he did?

Edit: I watched the 2 videos. Unreal that he did it. In June in Vegas? No way I'd even try it. Not even when I was in my 20's.

Although for that kind of money I might have been tempted. I promise you this though, I'd have only used 3 clubs.

That's what I was thinking at 1st, but I'm bettin' they stipulated he carry a full PGA-limit bag. What is that, 14 clubs?

I've played 45 in an 8-10 hour period at least 3-4 times, albeit it was split up into a round starting at 7-8, break for lunch, a round at noon, break for a dip in the pool/lake, a round starting at 4-5, then, just plain break. :laugh2:

You've played 45 holes walking? I applaud you sir.

He started at 5:45 am. I would have started as soon as it was light enough to see. They picked the hilliest course in Vegas which I think should entitle him if they didn't stipulate, 3 clubs. I'd take a 3 iron, a 9 iron and a putter.

No matter what you think of golf, what he did is unreal.

Looking at his bag in the video, it looks like he carried around 7 clubs with him, including a driver. That seems like a good compromise.

FWIW, that course does NOT look easy! http://www.bearsbest.com/vegas/default.asp

The hell with compromise. :D

You're a golfer DW, and you played out here which is similar to Vegas. Would you attempt that bet?

Well first of all, I played in Arizona in November, which is a far cry from Nevada in July!

And no... I wouldn't make that bet... I'm far too likely to shoot over 100 even without $340,000 on the line! :laugh2:

I forgot you were hear around election time. How I have no idea.

Yeah, that's pretty far apart in temperatures. I'll tell you this much, he's lucky Vegas is a dry heat. No way he could do that with a high humidity.

That's what I was thinking. I just walked 18 about four days ago with a full bag during a 112 degree heat index (I'd guess 85+% humidity)....thought I was gonna pass out. By the 14th hole, I barely had the dexterity to make contact with the ball. I was +7 at the 14th, and finished +15. Ironically, about 15 minutes after I finished, an approaching storm dropped the temps about 20 or so degrees... but at that point, I was just glad it was over.

I've been a "walker" since I was in my early 20's, I genuinely love it. I probably average 15-25 miles a week of just walking for the sake of walking.

In the eve, I'll go out after dinner when I'm at my "in town" house, and sometimes walk 2 hours around my neighboorhood. The streets there are really winding and I can just go forever without thinking about direction. It's very cathartic.
Come to think of it, I'm kinda the "Forest Gump" of walking! :laugh2:

"I just felt like walkin'."

Much respect man. I've been saying I need to do that every Saturday for 18 holes. Once I buy my new clubs that is going to be my plan, but I will have a cart for my clubs I can pull, not carry.

Yes... yes... it sounds crazy...

BUT... walking that many holes in the desert is not as tough as some may think...

I invite that bet in East Texas where the humidity is regularly wetter than the ocean...

As the saying goes... "it's not the heat, it's the humidity"...

I was saying that earlier. No way do I believe anyone could do that.
