OK, I know this has been debated many times. But after week one....
Kind of an over reaction rant on the offense...LOL

Detroit put in a new offense, and still went deep, and went deep a lot, not only to Megatron, but to others too, including TE's. They did not look any different than last year, but they ran the ball well too.

Arizona, they went deep also, a lot. And not all to Fitzgerald. Now we know they play a bit different style offense, but they take their shots.

Now there are many questions as to why the cowboys don't do this for Dez.
One being is it Romo, until he gets the cobwebs out of his head. But this was an issue last year too. I thought Linehan was too make this happen. Yes, Dez was double teamed but I'm tired of that excuse. Weren't they to move him around more in this offense?

Why won't or can't they utilize down the field passes more. We know Witten can't out run most defensive players anymore but where was Escobar, why wasn't he used more, or maybe i just missed him in there.

TWill I think will get more shots downfield than Dez at this time. Hopefully they get this fixed and we see it more often.

What did anyone see good and / or bad other than romo not being romo, that's been hashed over enough.
And do you think this will be changed and use him downfield like they should.

I know this is simplistic, however, IMHO Megatron, more than any other WR I've ever seen, is able to cast aside double-teams and come down with the ball.

Dez, while undoubtably a top 5 WR in this league, is more human when it comes to double-teams. In other-words, when teams trouble double Dez, it makes it really tough to throw it to him. Ie he is par for the course with other elite WRs when it comes to double-teams. He'll defeat double teams much more than the average WR, but at the end of the day -- double teams are designed to take a WR out of a play and it more-or-less works.

When Dez is doubled it should be opening up all sorts of other opportunities for the multitude of other offensive pass catching options on the team.

While Dez has great athleticism, he's not a burner. Also, Romo has never had high percentage accuracy on deep throws.

With this offensive line and Murray running the ball, there shouldn't be a need to chuck it deep on a regular basis.

Any marginal, game managing QB would be better suited for this offense than Tony Romo currently is.

There are many reasons, as some are stating above... but the NYG defense isn't even remotely close to the SF defense.

Romo had a bad game. We simply can't judge anything. From what little I have seen of the Cowboys and I saw bits and pieces of the game, it does look like they are were trying to get the ball to Dez up-field.

This team never really throws down the field consistently. They much prefer the 20-25 yard passes with a chance for a little catch and run to the 50 yard bombs. The most dangerous play from this passing game is actually the one where Williams went over top of Dez. Granted, Tony threw the pick, but that's going to be a headache for defenses all year if Romo can hit Williams.

I would say that up until last year, the OL was not good enough to give Romo enough time to throw down field.

Now he has the time, I question whether he has the arm to do it anymore.

Romo seemed to have enough of time back there against the Niners but was still in his old Chuck and Duck mode. He needs to trust his OL.

The deep ball died with Terrell Owens.

We don't have a QB that can throw the deep ball, it's that simple. Our WR's have to stop and wait for it or they have to become db's when it's under thrown, Dez saved Romo from about 7 extra picks last year playing DB.

Arizona looked as bad as the Cowboys, Giants, and Commanders. Their defense bailed them out.

This this and more this

Romo never had a great arm, but now he looked like Chad Pennington on Sunday.

Early on in his career he did. He was fantastic with T.O. According to Grantland, Romo was the best thrower in the middle of the field, 20+ yards in 2013:

Well, there's Weeden sitting on the bench.

Matthew Stafford's arm>>>> Romo's arm

Yep.

Linehan is a chuck and duck kind of offensive coordinator. In Minnesota his grand offensive scheme was "moon ball to Randy on 3" and in Detroit his offensive genius was "just throw it at Calvin no matter how many people are around him".
