The Vinateiri Situation Is Very Interesting...

...Let me start by saying that, up until today, I haven't posted anything on what I've heard about the possible signing of Vinateiri by the Cowboys because I know there are certain posters who don't like rumors and get upset if someone can't cite a link or they get their hopes up for something and it doesn't come to fruition.

But, the current status of Vinateiri leaving the Packers without an offer is interesting to me.

Perhaps he is just seeing the market isn't there for anything more than perhaps what Longwell got or NE offered and he ends up back in NE and retiring as Parcells says, "Bobby Hull, John Havlicek and Carl Yaztresmski".

BUT, the guy who I hear from occassionally sent me a message a few days ago saying..."somebody I know who has a good relationship with Vinatieri's agent, (His agent is actually de-certified for a year but he's still the guy running the show), said he's close to signing a deal with Dallas. This one may just be smoke but that's what he told me today."

He then followed that up a day later with this...the "word on the street is Vinatieri is all but gone and the Cowboys are believed to be the winner".

Since then, as he said to me, "it's been quiet as a church mouse" and he's heard nothing. Vinateiri then took his visit to GB and now we hear no offer being received. Hmm...

Combine that with some recent posts on other teams message boards saying they have heard he's headed to Dallas and it makes you really wonder if we are playing it very quiet behind the scenes. I sure hope so.

We shall see. Sorry if anyone is offended by an unverified source and no link to corroborate what I've heard. I guess internet message boards just aren't for you. :D

This would be a GREAT signing. Finally, I won't have to look the other way on FG attempts.

If we land Josh Brown (to a long term deal), Vinateiri, or Mare (if he gets cut) then I'll be incredibly happy with our kicking situation for 2006.

Good stuff CaptainAmerica just cracking on ya this morning. I hope you are right just so we can put this kicker chapter behind us. Now that the FA market has swung our way maybe we can finalize something soon.

I think the Kickers out there are waiting to see how much money Dallas has after the TO signing. Once the offical numbers come in then they will know what the true market for them is because they know Dallas NEEDS a kicker. Maybe that is why The V brothers are not signing anywhere yet.

Vineteiri would be a great free agent addition. Kicker is probobly the position we need most now that we pretty much of TO locked up.

Son, just post what you have, or what you feel like, and pay absolutely no mind to the cynics and the critics... Willie Shakespeare said it best when he said "this above all else, to thine own self be true"... or as Sammy Davis put it "I've gotta be me"...

You can't get your sense of self-worth from somebody else, you know...

I piss off lots of people wherever I go, but y'know, wherever I go, some people like me too (sometimes, in spite of themselves)... it's the curse of a forceful personality, and I wouldn't have it any other way... I've learned to cherish my friends, and pretty much blow off my critics... a lot of the times, the folks rippin' on me are folks I wouldn't WANT as friends anyway...

You might be making all this crap up, you might be completely legit... I really don't care, when I read stuff like this, it's fun to speculate... ultimately, time will be the judge of your credibility; when it comes to rumors, nobody gets them all right, I reckon the key is to put up a good batting average...

Vinateri is a much better kicker than Brown and a much better signing than Vanderjerk. I think he'll prove that he's worth the money, esp if his cap hit is less than 3 mil.
