This is really annoying, but I'll do it anyway. Because some of the things I am reading on here are ridiculously overboard. let me be the voice of positive reason with this loss for once.

Let me first say that I agree with most of what people are saying. Cowboys looked awefull, the defense was horrid and it was an all around beat down. But let me try to put it into perspective for some. Typically the people that are most upset were those that were unrealistic to begin with.

1. Going into Denver is no joke. Anyone that thought it was going to be a cake walk was kidding themselves. Not many people go up there and win lately. That defense is as good as it gets.

2. Simien isn't as horrid as we we're led to believe and they can run the ball this year. CJ Anderson is a good back. That guy would rack up 1600 yards no problem behind our line. And without the suspensions, 4th overall pick, and giving up half way through the game like Zeke did.

3. D Lawrence is balling. Two games now. Albeit against lower end tackles, but you cant discount his disruption. He is EXACTLY what we have needed off the edge

4. I would love to see what him and Irvin could do as bookends in a couple games when Irvin comes back

5. What some people need to understand is that for the most part, in the last two years, this defense has begun a total and compete overhaul. They are rebuilding. Anyone that thought these rookie Dbacks were going to hold their own this year was kidding themselves. Doesnt work like that. I like these draft picks. A few should stick into talented starters. NOt all, but one or two. That is all you can hope for. Maybe by years end of they can stay healthy they will settle in.

6. That pick from Lewis this week was great to see. No way any of the old cronies makes that pick last year. havent seen a quality pick like that in years. This may be what we have to look forward to consistently. But NEXT year and the year after possibly. These young guys have to get their confidence. And with the injuries and time lost it makes it even more difficult.

7. I thought Dak played valiantly. We saw what it would be look like if Dak played on a bad offense with a bad line, no run game, and pressure all the time. Not as pretty. But he hung in there big time and delivered as best he could. And they were in his face hitting him all day. Couldnt get him to fumble, didnt look rattled at all, and was hard to sack. And despite 2 picks, which for my money is more Dez, he kept the ball out of harms way rather then throw into good coverage. Romo would have had 4 picks and 2 fumbles yesterday. And he would be out for the season.

8. Collins looked really good against Miller yesterday. Those two sacks were both coverage sacks

9. It was great to get embarrassed like this early in the season. We will bounce back and not be so cocky. Blue collar is what we need.

The bad I will just mention in names:

Dez, Heath, Byron Jones, The use of Zeke and lack of creativity, Zeke attitude and giving up, coaching preparedness, lack of speed at WR and a big play threat.

Nice write up! Agree with vast majority of it.

I'll add another positive: There is a good chance that this will end up being just one bad game in a very good season. It happens all the time. Good teams sometimes lay eggs - it is normal. Even if this problem lasts for a few games, we've seen in the recent past teams like Green Bay look horrible for much of the first half of the season only to drastically turn it around and look almost unbeatable afterwards. NYG have done this before.

I think it all started off as a bad gameplan on offense and then losing multiple DBs on defense snowballed it away. The O-line never looked worse, Lee missed a number of tackles, etc. I still have belief Lee will go back to looking like Lee, the O-line will revert back to not being a sieve and be the dominant O-line we are accustomed to seeing. Zeke will be Zeke again, which will let Dak become his best yet again.

One bad game should not worry us too much (but apparently does, lol). And multiple bad games should worry us but should not destroy all hope as other teams have gotten out of funks before, so could we.

The defense been rebuilding since the historically bad 2013 season.

2014
2015
2016
Now 2017

Please let me know when it's reasonable to expect the rebuilding effort to reach fruition.

On Collins vs. Miller, I thought he did fine early on, but Miller's speed gave him a lot of trouble, also put a lot of heat on Dak. Collins is a great run blocker but an average-at-best pass blocker, also he'd be far better at guard than tackle position.

We became 1 dimensional against a team that is the best in the NFL at covering so i'm not going to be too hard on Collins.

I didn't think the Cowboys would go up there and win. I thought it was an uphill climb from the beginning.

The problem was that they didn't compete. That was the most disappointing thing to me.

The Eagles lost in KC. But they competed. GB lost in Atlanta. But they competed.

Dallas looked like they didn't belong on the same field with Denver. They didn't compete.

That really bothers me.

Whenever they stop drafting poorly?...............................a couple years after that.

They always seem to go for the home run/risk/measurables project guys. Just take the damn tough football player. Who cares if he isnt prototype athlete.

Taco and Byron Jones are examples for me of guys taken that have all the look and the measurables that they think Marinelli can just "coach up".

We passed up on King the CB, Watt, and another linebacker from what I recall. Take the football player.

We should win until we play Atlanta. Then we will see how far these young defensive players have come. The good thing about Atlanta is the defense is not Denver in Denver. But that offense is going to make us look absolutely silly. Not sure where that game is being played.

I think we're going to find out that Denver and Trevor Siemian aren't that good. We just let them totally out scheme us. Which is the hallmark of the Garrett era.

They have a good run game this year. THAT is the difference. The Oline is better. So Simien is playing off of that. Denver on the road is definitely not as potent.

I thought he played great. His speed gives anyone problems. He blocked him well for 3 seconds. Thats all you can hope for.

Been rebuilding since Garrett took over. Not trying to knock Garrett here. But seems there is always an area of lack of players or depth. though this seems to be the deepest we been in years. Just need to see it all come together. I think there will be a few more growing pains games yet. But more good than bad on the horizon.

The DL Penalty for leverage really killed our momentum. That is when the game went out of control IMO. I'm not blaming DL for the loss, just my observation.

We were very much in the game and kept the game competitive until the leverage penalty killed our momentum and gave Denver a fresh set of downs which led to a touchdown.

I feared much the same, as to how we would compete in their absurdly loud stadium. I had hoped our OL would hold up better than they did vs. the Broncos rush but they played flat and often unable to cope with the pressure that Denver asserted. Of course their excellent secondary didn't help our offense's cause, either.

Needless to say, our offense doesn't match up too favorably with their defense at all. Most teams fare poorly in Denver too, so there's that to consider also, although we struggled far more than we should have. Let's just hope we'll bounce back and compete much better in the future.

Great post.
No quarterback is going to go through a career and not face adversity, and ALL teams have their games where they get dismantled. Happens all the time.
So the overreaction is a bit excessive at this point. We'll see how the team bounces back against Arizona.
Besides, this is the first time most of these Cowboys have played at high altitudes. Denver had more of a home-field advantage than the Cowboys may have realized.
One game, one loss, let's head toward the future.
