I think my UPS guy who delivers every morning just said it best...

We were discussing the game against Seattle, and he was wondering of course what happened. I mentioned to him that the ending of the game was fitting considering the season the Cowboys endured. One big up and down roller coaster.

He then says before heading out. "You know, that just means they're close." Note: All of this coming from a Pittsburgh fan.

I immediately thought back to how it has been for a lot of teams on the brink and could not have said it any better.

We are indeed close. Now we have to build off of 2006 and get ready for a good showing in 2007.

That is a nice way of thinking about it.

The trouble I have with it, is that we were close last year. The defense was better last year. We thought maybe we can get some more offense, and a kicker, and do some things. We failed on the kicker, GOT the offense, and the defense went to garbage. So now we're back to thinking if we can just get some defense....

Our team has a real problem with choking. We're like the Donovan McNabbs of the NFL.

We were nowhere close last year. Bledsoe was still the Bledsoe we all know and love (Yikes!), and the O-line was worse than it was this year.

Ditto Fletch...

Parcells won SB w/ NYG in 1986, got there in 1996 w/ Pats, and mmmph this year w/ Cowboys...

I agree we're close, probably closer than we think!

How bout Bobby Carpenter and his last few games???

Nowhere close? What happened to being a few field goals away from 12-4? Bledsoe was no different than Romo this year, but I will give you the far worse line. It was the same team, choking in new and inventive ways.

Well certainly a person can look at it any way they want to.

Course anymore in this league A+B doesnt often equal C.

Used to be if you made progress from 1 year to the next there was good enough reason to believe it would continue. Now the opposite can easily occur. Or even if you get a little better still you have to contend with the teams that are able to come from nowhere in a given year.

Seems to that the only way to really believe you'll contend "next" year is if you've already been doing it for a few years running.. ala, Indy, Philly, N.E. otherwise it's just a crap shoot. You're just as likely to go from 5-11 to deep into the Playoffs as vice versa.

Yes, parity by any other name would still smell the same.
