It appears that the only reason for his release is because grown men can't get along and there was some drama between Marinelli and him. Probably between him and some players as well.

The thing is Taco seemed to have progressed based on his preseason performance and could contribute this season.

That's what makes this situation look so bad.

There was a problem between Taco and his coach and between Taco and some players.

Re-read that previous sentence and see if you can find the common denominator.

Couldn't get a 7th rounder for the guy, that sucks.

If the reports about Taco are true then it is his own doing he got cut. Dallas did not make the right pick with Taco but at least they acknowledged it and moved on.

He was acting like a man-child. He's not the first football player to do that. It is frustrating when someone who should be a professional acts like that. It happens way too often in the league.

Because of the way we handle these types of situations.

    We have no leverage.

No, the worst think is they could have just drafted TJ Watt who everyone in the world with half a brain knew was and would be a better football player than Taco. With less overthinking and a little common sense and flexibility, we could be sitting here today with the same exact defense we have with TJ Watt and Thornhill added to it. Makes me sick to think about it and it’s not like those guys have come out of nowhere and no one knew they would be good. Both were consensus no brainer picks that Dallas simply passed on.

Yeah that was pretty pathetic when I saw a tweet go out that stated "If Dallas cannot find a trade partner they will just release him". Seriously? Who does that? Well, Dallas does apparently.

No, but there is something from moving on from your mistakes quickly, and hopefully learning from them.

Where do you put Watt on our defense? We don’t run a 3-4 anymore. Does he have the same impact as a 4-3 OLB?

It doesn't appear that way to me at all. The team has put up with personality issues before … as long as the player's talents made it worth it. Taco was in his 3rd year and hadn't proven worthy of the draft pick, or even worthy of playing in a rotation. The personality problem likely just exacerbated that.

The only explanation is he pulled a Tony Parker and that was enough to make him to cancerous for the locker room

Doesn't player like Taco come dime a dozen?
If he isn't worth the fuss, I say good riddance.

What's the worst that happens, they release him 2 years down the line after he does nothing?

I just posted this in another thread like ten seconds ago, Watt would only have one spot in Dallas and its LDE where DLaw already was.

If a team further down the waiver claim list wanted him and didn't want to chance him being claimed before he got to them, a trade is in their best interest. He hasn't been claimed yet. That speaks volumes for his trade value.

The bigger issue than his attitude was the fact he dogged it in practice and elsewhere. People criticize Dez for being a diva - and he was - but Dez put in 110% all the time, there was never a question about that part of it.

Apparently Taco never put in any effort, going back to his rookie year.
