I meant to post this yesterday...

Theesman was on Mike & Mike in the Morning yesterday... thye asked him how he felt about doing MNF... this is what he said...
I run into people and they ask me what I am doing now. I tell them I am now a commentator on MNF. Their eyes get real big and they say "Wow, you've really reached the pinnacle in broadcasting, you deserve it".

He's never bumped into me. The reaction would be slightly different.

Better broadcaster Theisman or Aikman...hmm???

Aikman really has done well for himself, makes me proud that he was a great Cowboy and now one of the best broadcasters.

Some people have "it" and Aikman has "it". He was going to be great at whatever he dedicates himself to.

Agreed. He should be banned from doing Commander games. It's pathetic. The man-love for Gibbs is unbearable. As has been mentioned in many posts, is that the only good sound that ever came out of Theismann was his leg snapping.

Theismann last night referenced a five-INT game he once had while playing for Washington.

He's now essentially having one of those types of performances every Monday night.

I agree.

I thought the trio of Nessler, Vermeil and Jaworski was 10 times better than the "A Team."

I wish I had posted it yesterday right after I heard it so I could do the exact wording...

There was a LOT more and he was steadily getting himself all lathered up...

Did you hear Theisman late in the game when he blurted out that if he was the Vikes he would make the Skins re-kick the punt when there was a penalty on the Skins?!

Mike Tirico correctly pointed out that under the new rule the Vikes could just take the penalty yardage and add it on to the spot of the ball. Theisman tried to cover his ignorance by continuing to say he would have them re-kick it. It was blantantly obvious he didn't know about the rule.

It's not quite so bad that he didn't know the rule, in fact I had forgot about that, (never mind Theisman is paid to know those things), but what made him sound so ridiculous was trying to defend himself even though it was very late in the game, the Vikes had good field position and it would have been lunacy for a coach to have them re-kick it and take a chance at a fumble or worse field position.

I just laughed at how ridiculous he sounded. What he should have done was just admitted he forgot or didn't know that was the rule.

In the summer of 1986, my buddy and I were walking down main st. in Fairfax City to go to the playtime arcade, and as we were crossing a street, there was a black lincoln town car waiting for the light (we were passing in front of the car.) Inside the car was Theismann and Cathy Lee Crosby (the other Cathy Lee from That's Incredible fame). I pointed towards the car, and said to my buddy, "That's Joe Theismann." My buddy -a skins fan- was excited, and Joe non-chalantly half-waved to us, and what did I do? I gave him the finger and laughed (I was fourteen).

I really liked Vermeil in that game. He was interesting and he didn't short out the mike by crying.

No doubt about it. Real football analysis that can actually let the game be the show instead of Theesman's malaprops, Tony's mailbag full of nothing, and a billion shots of Tom Cruise?

Whodathunkit.

I 100% agree about him being banned from Commander games. Any other team blows all their timeouts before the 2 min warning and he is giving them grief. The Deadskins do it and it's 'they get the 2 min warning which is like the 4th timeout'. Whatever Joe.

You forgot to mention Kornflower praising his fantasy team for every Moss catch.

Agree. I enjoyed the actual football analysis of what was happening. Vermeil has always ben a good announcer in my book and as much as I didn't like Jaworski as a player I do enjoy his analysis as a commentator.

Yeah, the second Monda night crew was much better. Nessler has always been underrated though, and I've always liked Vermeil.

Theisman annoys me, but for that matter, I don't like to listen to Aikman call games either.

As if people don't know what he does...man they have to be more idiotic than theeeeeesman. And it takes a lot to be more of an idiot than him. Even if he has to say so himself.

Not only that, Theisman also said the Vikes should run a play action pass when Minny was in field goal range with about 1:45 left. Tirico correctly pointed out that Minny could easily run the clock down to a minute by handing off on 3rd down, and then kick a FG.

When Hall missed his FG, I swear I heard Theisman's voice crack in the background, then silence. What a loser!!
