There are a lot of people who owe Rivera an Apology

I read all the posts around here wanting to scalp Rivera, so I went back and watched the game again and watched his play.

For those who are calling for his head you are way off base.
Rivera played solid, and handled his man pretty much the whole game. Was he Larry Allen in his prime, no, but he did not play badly.

First in the run game he was very good, and was instrumental in a lot of our running yards gained. He did have one play he got pushed back, but besides that he was very solid.

In regards to his pass protection, his man did not touch Bledose but 2 times. The first was a sack, but I do not put that one on Rivera. Bledsoe sat back there and held the ball way to long, and 4 Seahawks where on top of him, Rivera's man got there a tenth of a second before the other 3. That was on Bledsoe and even Aikman said the same.

He was on a double team once, and tried to come over and pick up a late blitz and got there late causing a QB pressure. I am not sure if that would have been his assignment or not.

Otherwise his man did not touch Bledsoe all day.

In regards to his holding penalty, that was a crap call. That was not holding, and if anyone can argue otherwise it was marginal at best, and I saw so many other obvious calls that where not called.

He did have a false start, but I did not see what caused that call either, but I will assume it was a correct call.

Was Rivera 100% perfect, no, but in no way should his play have caused the reaction he is getting, and overall it was solid play.

The reason he's getting paid to much? Because anyone getting paid that much should not be so much of a distraction that it consumes 30 posts after a game. He would be earning his money if we never had to mention him.

No the problem is people spat off at the mouth without properly evaluating him. And I could care less about the money, I care about him protecting Bledsoe, and he did!

Rivera has been way below what BP expected, he looks out of shape in my opinion.

ignorance is thinking your opinion is the only one that matters and taking offense to others opinion by calling them ignorant.

Hey Rivera looks like Arnold compared to Doe Boy Al Johnson...I'm shocked at how flabby the guy looks compared to everyone else in person.

I would say you're not off to a very good start with a post like that, buddy. Rivera has been solid all year long, and Bledsoe would prolly be the first to tell you that. You havent seen many sacks from the right sied.....period. Not from Kearse, Strahan, or any of the others. Pettiti had a bad day yesterday, he's a rookie give him a break, hes getting used to not having help! As for Rivera, and those who think he's below expectations, try and actually watch him play before you post against him, instead of going on what some of the morons here will say! If you do that, you'll avoid making yourself look like a moron.

I agree that Rivera played solid. If he didn't have a rookie playing to his right and an average center playing to his left, he would look even better.

That holding call IMO was a bogus call. Rivera made a tremendously athletic play to block that guy.

I have no problems with Rivera. Then again, its not my money.

Many of the posts I've seen have also been positive, therefore I disagree with his post. He was brought here (paid the money) to hold up that right side, and as I said before, he's done that well all year long. If he had a not so good game yesterday, dont kill him for it, wait til he has a few bad games in a row, then I'll be slamming him with ya, but only when he shows CONSISTENT poor play!

The fact that his name gets called 2 or 3 times a game for a pentalty is more damaging then his blocking at this time. Credit the fact he has to babysit Rob and has a QB that holds onto the ball to long sometimes and it's hard to totally come down on him but either way his play has not been up to par with what Dallas thought they were getting.

All of our linemen get called 2 or 3 times a game except LA......but they are still keeping heat off Drew for the most part. So IMHO, he is doing his job fine. Its not his play that is causing us to lose, obviously it is a group of things that usually cause us to lose, but the smallest part of that would be the O-Line in my opinion!

HOL, first of all Ignorance means is lack of knowledge. I am not sure why you would take offense to that.

We are all ignorant in many areas of life, so it is ok. If you took offense then I apologize because my intent was definetly not meant as an insult.

Secondly in no way do I think my opinion is the only one that matters, that is why I watched his play and came off with facts after watching everyone one of his plays in detail.

I agree with this analysis 100%. Tucker was serviceable. Allen, Johnson, and Rivera I thought all had solid days. The problem was at RT, where Petiti was horrendous, just completely overmatched by a marginal player. This is the second week in a row that he has had a very poor game. Hopefully it is just a bump in the road, but it is also possible that he is hitting the dreaded "wall" that seems to derail so many rookies seasons. I hope he bounces back, or maybe Brooks steps up, because it is going to be tough to move the ball without far better play from the RT position.

Seriously, the notion that anyone owes Rivera anything is a fallacy. From Jerry Jones down to people who post on the Zone. Rivera has done enough to get by on his reputation, but he is not performing at a Pro Bowl level. The things you described as his "responsibilities" could be said for any Guard in the league. It's called doing your job.
