I read all the posts around here wanting to scalp Rivera, so I went back and watched the game again and watched his play.
For those who are calling for his head you are way off base.
Rivera played solid, and handled his man pretty much the whole game. Was he Larry Allen in his prime, no, but he did not play badly.
First in the run game he was very good, and was instrumental in a lot of our running yards gained. He did have one play he got pushed back, but besides that he was very solid.
In regards to his pass protection, his man did not touch Bledose but 2 times. The first was a sack, but I do not put that one on Rivera. Bledsoe sat back there and held the ball way to long, and 4 Seahawks where on top of him, Rivera's man got there a tenth of a second before the other 3. That was on Bledsoe and even Aikman said the same.
He was on a double team once, and tried to come over and pick up a late blitz and got there late causing a QB pressure. I am not sure if that would have been his assignment or not.
Otherwise his man did not touch Bledsoe all day.
In regards to his holding penalty, that was a crap call. That was not holding, and if anyone can argue otherwise it was marginal at best, and I saw so many other obvious calls that where not called.
He did have a false start, but I did not see what caused that call either, but I will assume it was a correct call.
Was Rivera 100% perfect, no, but in no way should his play have caused the reaction he is getting, and overall it was solid play.
