I am not defending his play calling from the one yard line. The reality however is that a good team with a good O Line has to be able to make 1 yard on 4 tries against a team with a depleted D Line. I have been down on the O Line for a long time now and while it would have been nice to try a pass down there, the Line did not execute. I am undecided if O Line or secondary is a bigger priority in the off season. Other teams converting on 3rd and long is just as big of a problem IMO.

We zone block with a power blocking line...

A good offensive coordinator doesn't call four straight HB dives to the right on Goal To Go from the 1 yard line.

He's a bum.

The problem with this reasoning is he called a run to the right everytime. If you're stopped twice in a row, why go back? To fool them this time?

So why dont you throw Houck under the bus then?

Because Houck doesn't call the plays... If they are successful in power-blocking, as Dan reeves pointed out, and Houck likes that type of play-calling, then Garrett needs to devise his game-plan around that...

Houck has a HoF career, Garrett doesn't... I'll blame Garrett first...

Garrett just doesn't seem to know how to exploit other team's defenses.

Look at Turner today - he really beat us today not by attacking our CBs but by attacking our safeties and ILBs when they were called upon to cover. This is really what we need to upgrade.

Did we really manage to take advantage of SD's poor run game defense? We did it twice but one of those times we got stuffed at the 1.

Garrett needs some more seasoning as a position coach.

The long 3rd down conversions make me extremely mad! Why can't this D stop anyone on third down?

As I said prior, Garret gets figured out by the end of the year and he sucks at adjusting... His only good drive was the 99 yarder, and that was the first series of the second half, when they went to running straight up the gut, using the OL properly...

Poor OL play. Direct reflection of our OL coach.

Dumb playcalling. Direct reflection of the O.C.

Dumb execution. Direct reflection of our players.

I hope there is significant overhaul of the roster next year. Or expect more of the same. Won't matter who our head coach is...

Why would you not have a lead blocker and run a fake toss play, when the fake has absolutely no effect on the run to the other side of the line.

I wish he would've tossed it.

We don't have time to season this garbage... We've been in a drought for ages...

I was arguing to replace him, not bring him back.

The problem with the line (IMO) is that it's bunch of parts that don't match.Flozell is slow off the ball at this stage in his career.Kosier is a player that relies on technique and isn't strong enough at the point of attack to blow people off the ball.Gurode is a road grader that struggles in blitz recognition at times but he can be a force in the running game.Davis is in the same boat as Gurode.Free is not strong enough at the point of attack to blow a defender off the ball either.

I honestly don't think he understands why it is important to run.

Dallas had chances all day to use play action and they used it only a couple times, one of which turned out to be a TD.

He's nothing special. If Wade is getting canned, start fresh with a whole new group of coaches. No holdovers.

But, but... Garrett is like Norv, yet Garrett rarely relies on play-action... Is there a stat on percentage of Romo and Rivers in shot-gun?

My bad... The guy should go be a positions coach at pee-wee league to start his seasoning...

Garrett reminds me of one of those privileged kids out of college who has the Princeton education and gets a high position in his daddy's company, but has done nothing to earn it, and when it comes time to make the decisions he's at a loss and the results reflect that.
