If we get a change in the offseason we will pick up another speed/elusive back.
I would say it is medium priority.
So I think there is a chance he may be gone.

RB is not a strength of this team...JJ is not a great back...he doesn't run with power, doesn't break tackles, and can't catch the ball, among other things. However, MBIII is not a great RB either.

Our RB's, though I love what they've done as a team and recognize they are doing it behind an offensive line that's average at best, are just run of the mill RB's in this league...they are not stars and never will be. They are never going to make a name for themselves, ala Don Perkins, Calvin Hill, Duane Thomas, Tony Dorsett, Hershall WAlker, or Emmitt Smith.

Julius Jones and Marion Barber III??? Nope, I don't think so...they don't have the talent.

However, they are both hard workers and will do even better behind a better OL. We made some nice trades to get Spears and JJ, but three years into it, I think it's clear we'd be better off with Stephen Jackson, at least in the short term.

Unless a top RB were to fall into our laps the way Emmitt Smith did (we weren't looking for him either), we need to focus our offensive attention on OL and WR, imo.

Could be.

But let's say the Cowboys took Jackson and then let's flash forward to the next draft.

Parcells is convinced that he must have Marcus Spears to make the 3-4 defense work.

There is a very good chance that the Cowboys pick Spears instead of Ware.

It was Jerry Jones who decided to pick Ware and gamble that Spears would be available a few picks later. Who is to say that Jones wouldn't have gone with Spears had Jones been faced with an "either-or" decision (instead of "maybe both")?

With all the problems this team has the JJ haters keep it up. Just like the TO haters. The running backs and WRs are NOT the problems. DL, LB, OL, FS are all way up the list. But people with agendas just cannot leave it along.

Jerry is pretty good at manuevering in the draft, he's just not good at knowing who to manuever to get.

That's true.

He did a fine job insisting that the Cowboys draft Ware, though.

But had Jerry only had one first round draft pick that year, I'm sure it would have been much tougher to draft Ware instead of Spears.

Stephen Jackson + DeMarcus Ware might be greater than Julius Jones + Marcus Spears + DeMarcus Ware.

But, IMO, Stephen Jackson + Marcus Spears isn't greater than Julius Jones + Marcus Spears + DeMarcus Ware.

and Jackson would look average here in our offense, and then everyone would wonder why we drafted a guy with knee problems

I would be in favor, if only for the Lions game, to see Barber and Jones roles reversed. Maybe Julius could hit some big runs once the D is worn down.

CliffHarris, it's very easy and common for fans to point the finger at the RB, Julius being that guy. But to not put any onus on the offensive line is crazy. You have to have some semblance of decent run blocking before you can get any production.

Do you see the holes that San Diego's LT has the pleasure of running through? That O-line kind of reminds me of the Cowboys big offensive line back in the early to mid 90's that gave Emmitt lanes to run through.

They are culpable. But holes have been there, if you watch close, and Julius can't get to them. It's not that he doesn't see them, because he does most of the time. And it's not like he avoids them, because of some mystical BS voodoo Parcells has laid upon him to "just run straight ahead." He gets there late, and goes down easy.

4.0 per carry behind this oline is not bad at all.jones is the least of the problems we need to solve. we need a pass rush, and a better oline.thats the two biggest needs, not rb

And I wouldn't have a problem with him if he had been 4.0 consisently throughout the season. But early in the year it was 4+ and the 2nd half its been closer to 3 per carry.

And its the same line that's been blocking for him early this year vs. late in the year.

2nd half of the season Jones is a problem that needs to be addressed, although it is probably not near as bad as the D and O-line issues.

Hmm, lets see, barber has a 63 yards game, everyone is clamouring for him to start, he gets 6 carries for 3 yards, including 3 straight stops at the goalline 2 at the inch line, and no one says anything. HOw strange
