I know a lot of us are down on Garrett, but imagine if we have the following players healthy next season: Romo, Flozell, Felix, Witten, RW11, Austin, Kosier and Barber. Don't you guys think we have a chance to be mighty explosive? When you add Bennett, Choice and TO to the equation, you get that WOW feeling back.

The O-line needs some tweaking, but it is fixable.

Romo needs to go back to his mobile self (when necessary) and we need to hire a specialist to help him learn how to protect the ball and make better decisions. Apparently Wade Wilson isn't the answer.

I remember when the Cowboys were 3-0. The had just taken care of Cleveland on the road, beaten Philly despite a lack of defense and took it to Green Bay in their house. The sky was the limit and Felix Jones was breathtaking every time he touched the ball. Why does everyone think it's impossible to get back to that on offense? Garrett has a whole offseason to learn from his mistakes.

And remember, we have a new special teams coach and the defense should be consistently dominant with Wade running things from the start.

There is hope, Cowboys fans.

Yes, if everyone can stay healthy, it can be explosive, and Wade taking care of the Defense for the entire year.

Only thing I ?.............if Flo stays healthy, will that keep him from his False starts?

i used to dream like you, but i see the reality in this team, they are being made to focus on football and work hard, as long as that is going on, and players whooping it up on the plane ride after the humalitating loss to phily last year, nothing has changed

face reality, till that attitude is changed on this team, nothing will change

the cowboy players will do enough just to keep at 500 or below, just enough to keep jerry jones off of their back, so they can collect their paychecks

till that attitude is changed, all the glitz and glamour for wearing the star on your helmets, and players thinking they deserve to win without working, nothing will ever change

The Cowboys' injuries were about average for an NFL team. It's very likely we'll have a similar problem this year.

We can actually with his false starts. We did it in '07. It won't be easy. It never is, but the Cowboys can be successful with what they have right now. I don't buy into the lack of heart and bad attitude stuff. Early on when things were going well, I didn't hear any of the soft stuff. I didn't hear it in '07 either until after the late season collapse. Hindsight. 20/20. I don't profess to have all the answers, but it's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

Um, no they weren't. If you don't want to use it as an excuse, I respect that. But you have to admit that the injury bug hit Dallas pretty bad last season at some key positions.

Before last week, when was the last time Arizona was in the Super Bowl? It's possible to leave the past behind and move forward.

"about average" using what measure exactly?

Injuries are nearly impossible to quantify. You can use factors such as games missed by starters but who really was the starter.... for instance does Kyle Boller count as a starter loss for the Ravens? Well for Gosselin's report he did. So the Ravens get all those missed starts on paper but got better at the position because Flacco was really their guy.

Then you have stuff like how many starters were on the injury report. Well we know that number is variable by team because say Tuna may not report a guy who is seriously injured but might attempt to play while another team may put a guy on their with a hangnail. So nix this measure.

So all in all it really just difficult to quantify. Especially with guys like Witten who we all know plays hurt, extremely so. Romo? A quarterback playing with a bad back is going to struggle. And fwiw this is not just the homer in me because I told Philly fans the same thing when they were bagging on McNabb.

So unless we see the results of questions like: How many games were started by guys not on the 2 deep who were also not first day draft picks... then I think it is hard to get to the truth of how badly various teams were hurt.

You say Dallas will probably have about the same injury situation next year but what does that mean? Does it mean the QB, the top 2 RBs, a starting OL, 3 best CB et al face injuries???

There were plenty of us complaining about the lack of discipline from training camp on. There were plenty of us complaining about it in December 2007, and the homers started with the "sky is falling", and claimed that everything was ok. The team was "progressing nicely", as one prolific poster claimed.

20 games of .500 ball later, the homers are still pretending that we're on the cusp of something special.

Again the easiest way to define how badly we were hit by injuries is to take our 2007 Pro Bowlers and then see that basically 1/2 of them dealt with injuries that caused missed games and another 1/3 suffered enough to play noticaebly different for entire games.

Romo --missed games plays played poorly after injury
Barber --missed games plays played poorly after injury
Witten --played but his play fell way off after broken ribs
Flo --had a broken hand and was turnstile versus teams for a couple weeks including fatal Arizona week.
Gurode --no injury i know of but was lost without kosier making line calls
Bigg --not sure of injury but was far less steady.

Tnew --missed games plays played poorly after injury
Hamlin --missed virtually all of the practices the last month and his play dipped from pro bowl to can't tackle anyone....
Roy Williams --missed basically the entire year.
Nick Folk --another great season.

add in mat mcbriar who is basically an all pro and he missed half the year.

Greg Ellis --Ellis was solid with 8 sacks in limited snaps but his supposed replacement and the actual expected starter missed games.
Demarcus Ware --Ware was healthy and dominant. By far our best player.

keep complaining... if it makes you feel any better.

i think everyone would like to see this team reduce its penalties(tho flo is a horrid example because he has an actual physical impairment to overcome).

anyone can cry when they don't win. it doesn't mean it is the right course of action.

if everyone must be fit into either homer or chicken little category by all means I'll gladly be in the homer column.

Sadly, on most boards that is exactly where you are placed - either homer or pessimist.

Given those choices, I'm with you, make mine homer.

Arizona got better because the lousy owner's son took over for the most part and he hired a solid GM, who hired a solid head coach, who hired a good coaching staff.

The Cowboys have the son, but he's hopelessly stuck behind his stubborn, ego-maniacal old man.
