There's a positive to Dez being out right now

Yeah, Weeden is going to be the next coming of Joe Montana without Dez. I mean, that's obviously why he struggled against the Cards, having a top 3 WR in the game hampered his performance.

Couldn't agree more. Part of the problem with Weeden's performance against Arizona was he was trying to force the ball to Dez as well as Witten. With Dez out and Witten being banged up and probably either out or not gonna be 100 percent Weeden will not be able to force those guys the ball. He's gonna have to do what Romo does. Spread the ball around. Look left and right. Find the open man or the best matchup.

Too small of a sample size.

It's silly to point to one game and assume "Hey, Weeden played like crap because he tried to force the ball to a top 5 WR and a HOF TE."

Show me where I said that. I said that was part of the reason. Of course Weeden has to make better decisions. That goes without saying, but we also have to help him out.

I get where you're coming from, but honestly? Seems like you're trying to turn these lemons we've been handed into lemon-flavoured Kool-Aid.

Here me out, please.

When Dez complains and begs and makes demands to Romo in the huddle or on the sideline, Romo just rolls his eyes and walks away. He barely hears it, and when he's tired of hearing it, he basically tells Dez to "shut the **** up!" It doesn't change a thing about how Tony plays. Dez has to just deal with it and accept it. Same for Brady, Rodgers, Manning, etc. They just don't hear you or care what you think much.

However, big-time receivers with big personalities like Dez don't often mix well with lesser backup quarterbacks. Too often, those quarterbacks get intimidated and rushed into throwing to those receivers no matter the coverage or situation. It clouds the thinking of the quarterback, who's head is spinning and emotions are overflowing already. Defenses can sense it and adjust.

Weeden just needs to play the game these next few weeks. Nothing more. Throw to the open guy, take care of the ball, but otherwise, don't worry about anything and just play. There'll be no big egos to deal with. Witten won't be screaming in his ear for the ball. They'll band together as a team.

That's not to say Dez is a bad team guy, because he isn't. He's just so passionate and selfish (all great receivers are) that it gets the best of him. And it can be a challenge for players not at his level to manage.

If Weeden can get a few games under him and gain some confidence, then it could be a big boost if Dez can return before Romo. But for at least these first few games, there's a silver lining to him being out.

Have you ever seen Dez complaining about not getting the ball? Especially to romo in the huddle? Never once have I seen that. Actually what I have seen is dez up field blocking for the other receivers or rbs on the team. He just wants the W. He doesn't care about his personal stats.

Yes, it's desireable to be without a top-5 WR.

I guess Weeden performs better playing with less talented scrubs. #Championship

The problem with Weeden wasn't him feeling he needed to feed the ball to his two talented players, his problem was going through his reads. Dez and Witten were most likely his first reads on those plays and he got the ball out as quickly as possible. He simply just doesn't read the field well.

His terrible accuracy didn't help either.

I dont see any. Bottom line passing game easier to defend.

And as an added bonus the running game is easier to defend!

Great news because now Weeden won't get distracted by the complaining that Dez never does!

Pretty sure you're just regurgitating what Deion said a few days ago.

Brandon Weeden himself would tell you he'd prefer Dez out there as opposed to the likes of Brice Butler and Devin Street.

The next time I hear or listen to Deion will be the first time in years. Can't stand him.

Did he say this? Good gosh, I feel dirty now. I got to go to mass.

Give me a break, When has Dez ever screamed for the ball? You just love telling stories don't you and making every little thing dramatic.

I'm sure this offense will be fine without one of the best weapons in the league:rolleyes:

I shouldn't have used the word "complaining", because that's getting the focus here. Star receivers are always claiming they're open, and they constantly tell their quarterbacks this. Irvin wore Aikman out with this. Reed did the same to Kelly. It's a football commonality.

Weeden and guys like him don't have the street cred or personality to handle this as well. They get caught up in it, and it affects their games. They often force the ball to the superstars.

That's all I'm saying. Of course I'd rather have Dez, but there is a subtle psychological angle to not having him there.

That day against Arizona, Romo wouldn't have fared well either. I was there, and I was really glad Romo wasn't. The Cardinal defense was no joke, and they were destroying Dallas' offensive line all day. It was a jail break.

It's really unbelievable the lengths people are going to prop up scrubs lately. If Weeden does well in Romo's absence it's because he has improved reading defenses and his accuracy. It has nothing to do with having a hobbled HOF TE and losing our #1 WR.

Every player in this league sucks until they put on a Cowboys' uniform apparently.

Romo played well against both Seattle and Detroit Lions last year, both stout defenses. You're here telling me he wouldn't have played better than Weeden? Give me a break.

Weeden played poorly because he's simply not a good QB.
