These last 3 games should be used to audition Whitecotton as the DC

There's just no reason why Eberflus is still the coordinator here. It's a disgrace that he wasn't fired Monday morning.

You're not going to save the season. That ship has sailed. What you can do though is give a look at your heralded DL Coach for a few weeks to finish the season before deciding who the next DC will be.

To not use these last 3 games accordingly is just more front office mismanagement.

I'd say head coach mismanagement but we know that's not the case here. He's just along for the ride.
:hammer:I'm all for moving forward...like the idea of someone else calling the shots the last 3 games. I'm guessing you would see a world of difference . Make no mistake though...this defense does have some warts.

...anything, please fire the POS. I never took so many meds during a season, like this one. ;).

I'd say hold a fan raffle...winners get to select plays on Madden from the booth. If you decide to use current playbook, you can do it from Tecmo Bowl.

Our defensive line has been average to poor all year. Why the love for Whitecotton? Just because he was with Q in NY under Saleh?

I don’t have a particular bone to pick with him. Jerry hasn’t given him the players he needs, but I just haven’t seen anything that makes me believe he should run the entire defense.
Exactly what I came in here to say.

What has Whitecotton actually done here? Our DL is awful even though there are talented players on it who have performed far better under different coaches

First, let me say that I agree with those who say Eberflus was dealt a bad hand. His hiring was centered around his background with LBers AND Parsons. Jerry trading Parsons a week before the season did him no favors. But he and Schotty reportedly convinced Jerry they needed a high-level DT more than Parson. They could manufacture pressures and sacks lost by trading Parsons.

Well, none of that has worked out coz what he, Jerry, and Schoty didn't see was how much Parsons hid a bunch of defensive warts. With that said, IMO ( and read a few nuggets ), Eberflus' problem is he had NO clue how to adjust. It got so bad that Schotty ( OC by trade) started sitting in on meetings ( I'm sure ordered by Jerry). This is when I think he started losing the locker room and never recovered. Which brings me to why I think he will be fired.........lost his locker room. Once that happens, there is no return.......

It seems that you have Schottenheimer more on board with Jerry’s decisions than I do.

I absolutely do not believe that a rookie head coach, in his first year, a week before the season opener against the Super Bowl champion was in any way on board with the decision to trade Parsons, particularly when all they got back were picks in future drafts.

Then, eight weeks later, during the bye week, when Jerry finally got around to throwing more stuff against the wall, I’m sure Schottenheimer was thrilled to get a legit player on defense. What else could he do? Nothing but continue to suffer with the damage Jerry had done? He took Williams gladly, but I’m sure he would have rather had Parsons.

As to Jerry directing Schottenheimer to fix the defense, ibdouc that was his call. I see that as Schottenheimer.

Remember, Eberflus is one of Jerry’s guys. Hell, we could be looking at another Garrett situation where he thought he was being a genius by having his backup/future HC in waiting.

Jerry was probably getting regular one on ones with Eberflus himself.

And pay Flus to do nothing?! No thank you! Let's get our money's worth.
You're not paying him. I think it'd be great to fire him now. Let Jerry stew on that instead of the usual. Which is Jerry selling fans on the last 3 games doing his usual, "pay no attention to the man behind the curtains" routine.

I think Eber is getting the Monti deal.

Look back at 2014.

Monti destroyed the 2013 season. Gets sent up to the sky box and a "promotion."

Jerry loves DL coaches. (Marinelli)

Eberflus is not going to be fired and will most likely be here next year. Jerry is going to say that between trading away their best defensive player at the end of pre-season (with no contingency plan in place mind you) and losing several key players to injury for various parts of the season, that the defense has underperformed and is the primary reason the Cowboys are out of the division race and playoff picture…not the coaching or coordinating. Jerry’s ego will not allow him to admit he made poor hiring decisions.
Jerry has been in denial about the shortcomings of Dallas’ weaknesses for 30 years, so this is no different.

The Chargers game will be the only one of the 3 that might give some indication. The Washington and NY games won’t mean much because they’ll be just counting the plays until they can book their winter vacations somewhere warm.

I would be fine with him being left home but Jerry isn’t doing that. And honestly there’s very little you could change at this point anyway
