Trade down, my friends, trade down. Your friends will love you; your enemies fear you.

Here are a mock where I traded down multiple times:

This is 3 round ProFootballNetwork.com simulation.

-Bryan Bresee, DT
-Charbonnet, RB
-Hooker, QB
-Battle, S
-LaPorta, TE
-2024 GB 4th round

In just 3 rounds: 4 immediate contributors, Backup QB with upside, and some candy for 2024.

If my board is washed of all my targets I absolutely trade down.
The way I see it now is none of my targets are falling to 26.
Everyone I wanted is flying up the draft board. It always happens. The league catches on to what I know.

We don't have any hard requirements in the draft...which gives us more drafting power.

Don't think there's hard preference between the top five tight ends or the 2nd vs. 4th best running back.

If we could trade down twice and end up with 4 picks in the 40-85 range...I'd be all over it.

Another 3-round simulation. Again trading down twice

45 Mazi Smith, DT
58 Luke Musgrave, TE
62 Zach Charbonnet, RG
78 Steve Avila, Guard
90 Dalyan Henley, LB

Good God… I’d hang myself.

LOL. You'd die silly. Five players for the price of three original picks

All five fit Cowboys needs and have broad consensus approval.

-Mazi Smith is true nose guard, 4th rated DT on the Consensus Board
-Musgrave would be top two in most tight end classes
-Charbonnet is good complement to Pollard. Viewed by most as 2nd or 3rd best back
-Avila: many have in 2nd round
-Henley is 4th best consensus linebacker

Concur, but if that's the the complete trade-down strategy, I suspect a lot of meat is still on the bone.

How about this: If your pick is up and you like three or four players similarly, why trade down a few slots? You'll get one you like plus you can bump up the muscle in other slots or add a pick. JMO, and I know you weren't trying to convey your complete trade-down strategy. :)

Think it's important to have tiers of value.

Gotta concede: The Pro Football Network mock simulator makes it a bit easy to spin an unrealistically elite draft class. So the mocks I posted above are inflated.

Pro Football Focus simulator is more challenging and realistic.

With the more challenging ProFootballFocus Simulator, I repeatedly traded down, while also trading up from the bottom. After five trades, I had:
Two second rounders (45, 61)
Three third rounders (64, 83, 96)
One fourth rounder

Landed Avila, Charbonnet, Darnell Washington, Darius Fish, Ivan Pace, Jaquelin Roy.

Unless there is a major blue chip faller:
MUST.TRADE.DOWN

Mazi is trash. No better than what we already have in Gallimore.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'll count on you to keep me well-humored.

Not even the same category of player.
-Mazi is now just 21...coming out early...so he's yet to physically mature or perfect his craft. Just a man-child. Gallimore, meanwhile, was drafted at age 23. Huge difference.
-Gallimore plays at 302LB. Mazi already plays at 325-335.

As for that mock draft...I was able to move down to snag Mazi as a 2nd round #45 pick. None other than draft guru Daniel Jeremiah had him going #26 to Dallas. (Too high for my taste. I'd never take him the first round!)

Jeremiah wrote, "Smith has generated a lot of buzz in personnel circles for his combination of athleticism and power. His best football is ahead of him and he’d fill a need in Dallas."

But hey let's summarize:
Zekeats: "Mazi is trash"
The consensus draft board, reflecting dozens of experts and media pundits: 37th pick overall

Bet you $100 he doesn't go in the top 70 picks. Money talks!

David Jeremiah's round 1 mock draft landed. Had Mazi Smith going in 1st round to Dallas. I don't see it myself, but he's a top-70 selection for sure.

Go look at the tape. He has no impact on the games.

Of course I only see the markers opinions but I think would be lucky to get Avila at 58. I’ve heard opinions that Charbonnet has a lot of road mileage. I like Ozzie Smith and Musgrave.
