#18 overall: Jonathan Cooper, G, UNC

I would trade up for this guy but I have him falling to Dallas at #18. A future all-pro at guard or center.

#47 overall: Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M

Moore did not work out well and has some work ethic issues, but in the 2nd round he's an absolute steal. With Spencer possibly not returning in 2014 and Ware seemingly regressing, it would be smart to invest in DE for the future.

#80 overall: Le'Veon Bell, RB, Michigan State

A workhouse type RB who can carry the load if need be.

#114 overall: J.J. Wilcox, S, Georgia Southern

The Cowboys draft another small-school safety prospect, but it's great value in the 4th round.

#151 overall: Brandon Magee, LB, Arizona State

A definite target for the Cowboys late in the draft; may compete for the SAM LB job and a solid special teams player.

#185 overall: Josh Boyce, WR, T.C.U.

A speedy-type WR that Dallas is currently missing in their offense.

What do you guys think? I'll probably put out my final mock next Wednesday. It's almost here!

I like it but I would switch it to safety in the 3rd and RB in the 4th, depending on who is there of course. Wilcox is a huge project. Only 1 year on the defensive side of the ball and at a small school = no where near ready to play in the NFL.

I like it.

Huge Cooper fan and I like Bell a lot, I like Taylor from Stanford a litte better, but would be happy with Bell.

I'm mixed on Moore in the 2nd, has to be more than off-season work outs that has him falling from a top 10 to the 2nd round.

I hear ya, but Bell is my pet cat so I couldn't keep him off! :D

No doubt. The Cowboys have a history of taking chances with players in the 2nd round. They did it with Lee and Carter, so I could see a similar situation where they see tremendous value with Moore.

He was also present for Dallas Day I believe, so they had a chance to work him out privately. Call me crazy but Moore actually reminds me of Ware.

I don't know much about McGee, but I love this draft. I would take that draft today and be happy.

Can't imagine Moore being there at 47. But to get Cooper, Moore, Bell, and Wilcox would be a really nice haul.
I might try for a safety in the 3rd and Rb in the 4th or 5th though. But Bell could be beastly.

i really like this one.

nice value and all at least remotely possible.

moore at 47 but be a small stretch but he had a horrid combine and has a rap as a lazy player. might fall this far.

if we are going to really run the ball we need a 2nd bigger, more durable back.
Bell is that for sure.

I like this mock as long as we can remedy the work ethic issues you touched on with Moore. The only thing I would want more is an interior DL. But it's hard to make everybody happy with only 6 picks to work with. Good work.

If Moore has a rep as a lazy player, you think we'd take him even if he did fall that far?

I think the laziness was in the beginning of his collegiate career, and he seemed to progress and mature as time went on.

He only performed 12 reps on the bench press at the combine, and barely broke 5.00 in the 40, but he could just be one of those guys without the solid measureables.

When I looked at the tape, I saw a relentless player that's raw, but could really flourish with the proper coaching. Marinelli and Kiffin are dang good coaches for that.

Let's not too carried away with bashing Moore guys.

I'm not saying these guys are the same player (Clowney is bigger and faster), so no piling on please :)
but...

Damontre Moore
DE in the SEC
12.5 sacks
-70 ydsl
81 tackles

Jadeveon Clowney
DE in the SEC
13 sacks
-68 ysdl
49 tackles

So in the same league, Demontre Moore had a better season than the all-world Jadeveon Clowney

I think I would take Moore in the second round unless he's a really bad apple, and i have not heard this to be so.
At least on film, this guy looks like a player against top end competiton.

This.

The Cowboys also brought him in for Dallas Day so I assume he's a serious consideration in the 2nd round.

I do wonder if he is a rkog. I am guessing we brought him in to find out.

Since he is from Rockwall not all that hard to ask his HS coach and HS opponents.

I do know he was VERY productive on the field. And that has to register somewhere.

Not a Tyrone Mathieu like stretch imho.

Just to elaborate more on my later round picks:

I really see Le'Veon Bell as an every-down back if Murray is not re-signed. Unless DeMarco shows consistent signs of staying on the field, I would absolutely not give him a multi-year deal. Running backs are a dime a dozen these days, and they take a ton of pounding in a short duration. Bell could be our new Marion Barber who does everything well; he catches the ball extremely well, solid in pass protection and he would bring a physicality in the redzone area.

J.J. Wilcox needs to be a Cowboy. He's smart, played a ton of single-high at Georgia Southern, he's always around the ball AND he returns kickoffs. I really like the kid, and this way there would be a healthy competition between the "4th rounders" in Wilcox and Johnson. May the best man win!

Magee is probably nothing more than a special teams player, but Greg Cosell really seems to like the kid and maybe he pushes for the SAM spot in 2014.

Josh Boyce is a player we have interest in, but he probably won't make my final mock. I couldn't really find another position of need to put in the 6th round. Maybe Dallas targets a blocking tight end or a player capable of playing the 1 technique.

I see Wilcox as AOA version 2.0. An athlete thrown into the safety position. Not saying Wilcox can't or won't work out in the NFL, but I'm not willing to take the risk anywhere near the 4th. 6th or 7th? Sure, but we need to much help at safety now to take such a project.

Bell has been rode hard and put up wet. With that said, I think he would be a great guy to draft #3 and spell Murray. We definitely need a guy who has proven he can carry the load.

Why? Have you seen any tape of this kid? I watched a few of his games, and he is DANG impressive. I've seen him going as high as 2nd round. Who knows if he will make it to 4th, I would take that in a second.

Love the mock. Only complaint I have is DT position. I see them trading down a couple times and picking up extra picks. I see them taking at least 1 DT. Hatcher and probably Ratliff will both be gone next year

I agree with Wilcox. It's silly to say he's a project just because he only played one year at safety. The kid can play.

I'm with you on a DT also. Hopefully they find someone throughout the draft or catch a gem with an UDFA.
