Things to keep in mind for playoff scenarios

They're just scenarios ,I don't think anyone believes that will be able to get this turned around, but it sure is better than the first half vibe,

I don't have any expectations they're going to the playoffs, but people are just providing us with information, just in case it happens.

The irony here is, I'm sitting there waiting as a Longhorn fan on the outside hoping that somebody else helps us get in the college playoffs, but it's probably not going to happen, so I'm not going to even expect it... However our big wins against Vanderbilt and our bitter rivals Oklahoma and beating the undefeated Aggies that kind of helps ease the pain a bit,

just like this little run the Cowboys are in...

But I'd rather have this ,be proud of my team that didn't quit, from the front office to the coaches to the roster, the total team, they made an effort to not look like trash, to not be embarrassed, and not be thinking about tanking ,or thinking about the draft ,because that's the worst thing in my mind is when people were already talking about the draft six games into the season, they're talking about the scenarios and how do we end up in the top ten of the draft, and how we hope Green Bay loses, so we can get even a better draft picks..

That's loser talk,

I prefer this a little hope with little expectations ,but playing good ball this time of year on the holidays for me, it's a bonus.

that's my gift from the football gods, is that not how my team look like trash, they have something positive to take away from the games that I wait all year to watch all off season ,which are super long, The seasons seem to be over in a flash compared to all the other major sports which have 80 games or more each, I mean they actually have no one and done playoffs, they actually can afford to lose a playoff game, in football that's not the case,

so, I'm going to appreciate what's going on right now regardless of if it ends up in the playoffs, all that's happening right now should carry over in the next year,

I know that's not a given either, but I just believe we are preparing ourselves for a better start to 2026, regardless of what happens...
I've been actually reading more of your posts lately.

IF the Cowboys win out and go 11-5-1
That puts us ahead of the Panthers and Lions and if we win out they can't catch us.

For the Cowboys to win the division Eagles need to lose 2 and go 11-6
They play Chargers, Bills, Raiders, and Commanders twice
Bills are good and Commanders are divisional rival

For a wild card spot

Seahawks Lose three ang go 11-6
They play Rams, Colts, 49ers, Panthers, and Falcons
four good teams

49ers lose two and go 11-6
They play the Titans, Colts, Bears, and Seahawks
Three good teams

Packers lose 3 and go 10-6-1
They play the Bears twice, Broncos, Ravens, and Vikings
Many thanks, Mor, for being succinct. This helps a lot.

Commanders no longer look like an easy out playing like they did against Broncos. Eagles better be careful.
If Philly loses to the chargers its going to be a lot about momentum. A free fall will be hard to stop at that point. The Commanders are still a division rival and those games could well be interesting.

Good work. Very easy to understand.

We can beat all these teams. I think the only two better than the new Dallas team are Rams and Pats.

I think it's 50/50 whether or not we get in the playoffs even though the odds are actually lower, just because we have a new roster on defense.

I'm pulling for Bears and Panthers to win their divisions so the head to head in Wild Card is realistic.

I want Chicago to sweep GB.

I think 9ers lose to Colts and Bears.

I also don't want to think too far down the road. If we win tomorrow it'll catapult us into playoff talks.

I wouldn't rule out Washington beating a division rival

It doesn’t matter what Carolina does or does not do. As for GB, all they need is one more conference win and they own all tiebreakers over Dallas.

Damn Chargers on the road to.

I Try my best to make them more readable LOL

but sometimes I'm in a hurry, and I'm trying to have 50+ posts a day, and I don't have time to go back and fix them before the edit feature times out, It happens and I ramble on with talk to text, and I'm trying my best to at least make them more legible..LOL :muttley:

Glad it helped. I did it for myself to try and understand it and decided to post it. Now all they have to do is win out.
Yep, 3 down, 5 to go.

:flagwave:

I myself am quite stunned that they are even in this position. I just assumed this year was a rebuilding year when the season began. If they don't beat the Lions, it still may be just that. ;)

Found this.

Shows the range of change for each team depending on a win or loss

It’s a nice chart although it certainly does put in stark terms our current situation.

Look at the Cowboy *and* Lion swings.
A playoff game for both teams.

I would rather GB beat them twice to avoid a tiebreaker with them.
We want GB to lose both as they have less wins then the Bears. Also, Bears hold the tie-breaker against us. Both teams have difficult schedules to finish the season.

I am not going to delve into this much further until after tonight. Firstly, Chicago does not hold any tiebreaker over Dallas, the H2H doesn’t matter. Second, it will probably come down to GB fighting for the last WC. Yes, it would be great if they lose both to Chicago but they most likely split. That is bad news for Dallas because if GB gets just one more conference win, they own the tiebreakers over Dallas. GB needs to either crash or win the division, they can’t hang around Dallas in the standings.

This is all moot if Dallas can’t take care of business tonight.

Cowboys don’t have to worry about tiebreakers except with GB.

Yes, Bears don't have the tie-breaker against us, but you have to match their win total. They already have 9 wins. GB has 1 less win and we could potentially win the tie-breaker against them if we finish with the same record.
