Think Cowboys go after TE Kellen Davis again?

I think we dodged a bullet,Davis has terrible hands(according to bears fans).

I think we'd do it for the league minimum, but a blocking tight end is a prety easy thing to get in the 7th round or undrafted free agency

Wasn't so easy last year.

Davis' problem is that he fumbles the ball too much. He catches it but he fumbles way to much on contact.

He didn't want anything to do with the Cowboys last year. I don't think we should pursue him any more. The Cowboys usually do well drafting TEs. Even that TE from PSU Szczerba flashed potential in camp. Don't know if he will be available again (did he go to ATL?).

Maybe because with the drafting of Hannah, we had our 3 TE's.
They really missed having a blocking TE. I really like Hanna-as a receiver.

How about we get some blocking offensive linemen first before we put blocking TE's at such a high priority?

Yes. But we are interested in a blocking TE.

We really need someone to take Witten out of some blocking responsibilities -- Hanna is more of a hybrid TE/WR.

I think you look for a blocking TE in the draft late round or even in UDFA.

Kellen Davis was due: 1 yr(s) / $1,350,000

That is WAYYY more money than we should be willing to pay for a role player who will play 30% of the snaps.

This is exactly the habit we need to get away from. You pay money to players who are worth it. 1.3 for a backup TE is just not a smart business move. Barring him signing for less than half of that (the vet minimum) I have no interest. Bears fans absolutely hate this guy.

That actually is just his dead money. He was on a 2 yr/6 million deal. And 1.3 would actually be a real good deal and not much over vet minimum. Cowboys just tendered STs Danny McCray 1.323 the other day.

That's not why they wanted him.

lol, I could care less if he had no hands, but as long as he lives up to his reputation as a blocker.

This. The guy is a one-trick pony and would have to accept his role for vet minimum.

In the meantime, they could look for a blocking TE in the draft.

Thanks for the correction.:D

3 million a year would be far worse. I'd assume if we are interested it would be for far less than that,.

Matt Spaeth was just released. He would be a quality addition as a blocking tight end only and can be had for the vet-minimum.

Good teams fill as many holes in roles like this as possible in FA so they can focus on BPA in the draft.
