45 PA 30 RA 60% Pass to run
That's with 8 passes on that final drive.

The playcalling was about as balanced as it could be...I actually thought they should have thrown the ball a lot more to loosen things up a bit.

Don't get me started. I hate the empty set because there is absolutely ZERO threat of running.

But the percentage should be non-zero now, right? We have a QB who is a threat to run. Why not run a couple of QB draws from that formation to keep the opposing team guessing? A designed QB run tilts the odds in the offense's favor. On a normal running play, the QB becomes a dead player after the hand-off, so it's basically 10 (offense) vs. 11 (defense). However, on a QB-designed run play, you pick up an extra blocker because the QB is now a live player. I would think from that spread formation, keeping all of the routes on the outside, would open up the middle of the field for a pretty nice QB run.

Unless the defense has a spy (I didn't really see one on Sunday). And if the defense does then employ a spy, they've tied up a defender who might normally drop back in coverage. I would think this would be a pretty effective strategy, no?

Then again, what do I know?

Watching All22, one of the big issue with our passing game is we rarely attack the deep middle of the field. This makes it easier for the opposing DB to defend the outside routes. They have less ground to account for. We need to have them defend the whole field.

My thoughts exactly. In today's style of football, the WRs can be fearless across the middle but we never attack it deep (15 yards or more). Where are the deep crossing routes?
I also can't stand the "take what they give us" attitude. An offense is supposed to dictate to the defense.
