This Dallas team is a work in process...

Romo has a mere 16 NFL games of experience under his belt.

I believe I recall a stat that Dallas is one of the youngest teams in the league despite the age on a couple of key players (Owens, Glenn, Flozell, ?)

You know the names of the rest of the key contributors, their development arrows are much more pointed up, than horizontally, or down.

Consider also that Wade, Stewart & Jason are in their first year of teaching in this organization.

This New England game does not worry me. I'll root my butt off for a win, but I won't be dismayed if we lose or even if we lose big. Stranger things have happened. Perhaps you recall the much hyped 1992 MNF clash between the fast developing Cowboys and the Eagles. We got blown out 31-7. We went on to avenge that loss by routing them in the playoffs and of course became SB champs that year.

This is a gravy game for this team. We are improving. We're, IMO, closer to the 1990/91 Cowboys (discovering how to win, putting the pieces together) than the 1995/96 Cowboys (fueled in part by past glories).

This New England match-up is rightfully a marquee game this week. It absolutely should be. But its not the Super Bowl and we need to be careful not to treat it as such.

Of much greater importance will be the post bye-week stretch of games vs our division rivals.

It'll be fun to see how we measure up, but keep in mind, win or lose, it is only a progress report. There is most certainly more work to be done either way.

I agree. Hopefully Phillips is reminding the team of the same.

Very good post!! The arrow is pointing up for this team and if Romo can stay consistent it should remain that way for several years.

Very nice post that puts things in perspective. I just dread the Media types that will put us down and call us frauds if we lose.

I will not read the papers or surf the net if we do lose, because the common theme will be COWBOYS EXPOSED.

Yup, my feeling exactly.

This loss just adds one to loss column but will not ruin our season, if anything, we'll know where we stand in NFL food chain.

Having said that, I like our chances.

Excellent post!

Very well said.

I might add that this team is currently not as good as they may be later this season.

The two starting cornerbacks have played little together. When Henry was healthy, Newman wasn't. Now that Newman is, Henry isn't. Hopefully that changes soon. Not to mention the fact that Reeves seems to get better with each game's experience (he'll need it this week!)

Terry Glenn has yet to play this year. His return should make an already potent offense even better.

Tank Johnson should provide more DL depth if nothing else. Not saying this guy's a savior, just that he's another soldi player.

Ellis is returning to health and rookie Anthony Spencer looks better and more comfortable each week. The Buffalo game was his strongest of the season - by far.

Not to mention younger players gaining valuable experience every day.

I'd say there are a lot or 'arrows pointing up'.

I think Emmitt referenced that game before Dallas played the Bears.

I think Monday night was a much better comparison ..... even though we ended up winning.
