This defense is just plain pathetic

I think you have players out there just trying to make plays off their experience. No unit, no leadership, one player has no idea what the others are doing ( explain how/why WRs are wide open). Hell, Ben Johnson flat said the defense was vulnerable to chuck plays after studying their tapes. What does that tell ya .......crazy thing Eberflus hasn't done a damn thing to correct it

Eberflush looks like he doesn't even know where he is most of the time. That explains why he didn't call timeout last year in Chicago and just let the game end. Yeah that's really someone I want on my team.

We go from that idiot in Atlanta who blew a 28 point lead in the Super Bowl to the Weekend at Bernie's guy who thinks leaving people wide open and not stopping the Run is somehow playing defense.

I missed the game and didn't care to pull up the stream, did we have another 12 men on the field penalty again? Because it would not surprise me at all if we did.

Can we just have a normal defensive coordinator one year who does his job? I can't remember the last one we had. Quinn sucked, Zimmer sucked, Campo sucked, Nolan sucked, Rob Ryan sucked.

I think this FO and Schotty will ultimately be forced to get another DC to run this defense. If that doesn't occur, many games will be lost due to Eberflus refusing to alter his defense. In the past, he has refused to do so. That's why the Bears fired him and why this team might have to, also. That might not happen until the offseason, though. Such changes aren't usually practical within the ongoing season.

I considered going to the game with my son... but was weary of spending $1k+ to possibly see this team lose. As it got closer to game time I started to think I was being really paranoid and there was no way this team could lose this game so why didn't I buy the tickets. Now I'm really glad I didn't convince myself to change my mind.

Now unfortunately, I will be in Dallas on a business trip on Nov 4th, and my coworkers are all NFC East fans, so thought it would be good idea to go to the Monday night game against the Cardinals. I guess that's just going to be a waste of time and money.

I have never seen a team that's less athletic and slow and stupid. add the lack of athleticism to being stupid and you get the cowboys. in the 4th quarter. you have a chance to stop Carolina on a 4th and 3...and the CB sits over 8 yards deep, back peddaling!!! WHY!? easy pitch and catch... utterly stupid. they can't tackle, lost count of how many arm tackles Dowdle broke in the game and he is not a power back. LBs are none existent.

did a quick search and teams that rush for over 200 yards have a record of 284-55...that's .870 winning percentage. as expected pretty high, but you can still win.

then did a search on teams that rushed less than 50 yards and the record is 15-271, or about 5% winning.

combine the two together. we had a probability of 0.6% of winning this game!!!

in other words. fat chance.

Defense, both veterans and young guys are regressing with Eberflus, his scheme is just awful

I think its more like you cant play man with no pass rush, and Eberflus can't seem to make a zone scheme where receivers are covered

The corner had over the top zone. He was backpedaling because that was the defensive call. The players may have some limitations, but Eberflus's inability to adapt is the problem.

they literally need to score on every posession. if they don't we don't have a chance and we didn't exactly play an offensive Juggernaut. washington will easily put up 40 points...so we have to score every possession, and it has to be TDs

Totally, I would just love to understand why he just doesn't switch to man and also have cbs play up closer to the wr rather than a 7-8 yard cushion. He continues to give wrs clean releases and there's little chance for the pass rushers to get home with QBs having wide open receivers.

they have given up so many deep plays, they are playing scared, on top of sucking. the safties suck. wilson is in-box safety, but he is playing a roaming safety and can't cover and always in the wrong position.

I agree 100%. It was a safe, gutless call. That falls on the coordinator. Not the player. Bland and Diggs are man corners. Going back to the dry well (zone) that clearly isn't producing results is why this pass defense continues to get torched. Why not adapt? Doesn't feel like there's any urgency to correct the problems.
