This Defense Really Coming Around

When this current group of Cowboys get another shot at the Patriots in the Super Bowl, NE had better be ready for a much improved defense.

Back when they beat us, they picked on Reeves a lot. He has improved since then, but now he's a nickel back again. We have our starters back, & they should be 100% when the gun sounds. They sure looked ready yesterday. The more Henry plays, it seems the more confident TNew is to take chances & make plays. Hamlin is getting much more confident as the QB of the secondary. With the regulars back, & seeming to trust Hamlin more, Roy boy is starting to take care of his assignments better. He is tackling like a machine--like always.

The front seven is getting much more comfortable with the Phillips' style of defense, and it sure shows. Man, Canty is playing like the beast he looks like, and was advertised as. Ellis looks like a rejuvenated kid out there just dominating whoever he's across from. Ware is....well, Warewolf....another beast. It's really good to see Burnett out there playing with confidence, as well as James playing with abandon and throwing his body around.
The backups are coming in and not missing a beat.

Come playoff time, this D just might be almost as good as the O. That would be one heck of a defense.

The only thing I have yet to see from our D is different type of blitzes... we blitz sometimes but I don't see the exotic blitzes that I thought I was gonna see. I do think we need to man up more with our DBs and stop allowing all these 5-7 yards passes. but all and all I like our D and it will only get better

Guys lets look at the big picture here..We destroyed a terrible Jets team. We were supposed to do that.

Our Defense has done this for the past couple of years. They look unstopable one game then get torched acouple games later.

Wait untill the PAckers game to see if the Defense has taken the next step..That is the real last test.

I agree we will match up better with NE, but it wasn't so much Reeves they picked on that game, but Nate Jones who played the slot.

It will be much different when they cannott pick on Jones the whole game.

Thank you! Some of you tend to way overreact every weak. So what we played good against a crummy Jets offenses, and the week before they looked very average against an average Washington team. NO way anyone should say our D is starting to turn it around after just one game...lets wait until the play a good offense, ie. the packers, then we can start to say they are turning it around....try to think a little before you just post your wishful thinking.

Last season, it was just about now that the defense collapsed. I think I'll wait and see before I "crown their a**" :p:

I am just glad we are heading for a showdown with the the Packers.
That game, like the Pats and Skins games, will show us a lot of what this Cowboys defense is about.
I hope to see a better pass rush and a balanced attack. Deep to T.O., midrange to Witten and a one-two punch by MBIII and JJ.

Having said that, you run the risk of having the board's fascists come around and term this tread/responses "stupid."
Why?
Because to not fawn all over the defense after EVERY game is to be unloyal.
Somehow, the brownshirts of this board come out of the cracks and crevises to attack, malign and denigrate.
No logic except they don't agree and you must comply with their thoughts.
In any other venue, they'd organize the book burnings and the attacking of businesses based on loyalty.

God bless us one and all. :D

Should we lose next week, the board will be all over the defense. From heros to zeros in one week. Frankly, I'm waiting until January to see what kind of D we bring in the playoffs.

Next week should be a good test for us, and especially our secondary. It starts up front. If we can generate pressure on Favre and force a couple of picks, we can contain them. If we can't, he won't be averaging 5 ypa like Jason Campbell did.

Ellis is not the MVP of this defense. There are only two guys who can be MVP's of this defense.. TNEW or DWare. If you look at the majority of Ellis' sacks they are of the coverage variety....it's rare you seem him bull rushing a guy or beating a tackle off the snap and he NEVER faces a double team because of the guy lining up on the other side of him.
Don't get me wrong, I am pleasently suprised that Ellis is not only on the field, but contributing, but he is no where near the quality of football player Ware and TNEW are.

I agree but Brady James needs to be mentioned also, he's having a helluva year too. The guy is all over the field...
