Don't get me wrong. I am hoping to have a blast with it. Hope my team wins, and I think they can.
I won't say that its only one game out of 16, but its close to that in importance. Yeah it'd be great for the team's confidence, to send the G-men a message etc.,
But it certainly doesn't clinch the division. There will be many more battles to fight on that front.
It means little around what we might do if we make the playoffs. Its how you play in January not in September.
So I won't thump my chest, as a fan, for long, if we win. But I also won't be in the pit of despair if we lose. Its a journey. We're taking preliminary steps. I hope we're a better team in December than this Sunday night. I think we'll need to be.
If Sunday night is a step in the right direction I'll be content with that. And I'll be hopeful either way.
The "December games are more important" camp irritates me. If you don't play well early in the season, you could be sitting at home in January regardless of the outcome of December games.
