Screw the HOF!

Even though I actually visited the HOF last year and enjoyed it, I was not happy with the number of Cowboys there. The team has been too successful over the years for this to be the case. More superbowl and playoff appearances than any other club. It's a travesty to say the least.

Steve Young mentioned in his induction speech that there was nothing more exciting than facing the Cowboys on Monday night. That's much respect for a franchise coming from a Hall of Famer. I didn't like losing to the 49er's but I've always liked Steve Young.

that's a croc!! Young is NOT a HOF'er. He shouldn't have ever won a SB, he stole one of our rings. All of his stats are inflated because A) WCO B) CRAPPY, CRAPPY, inexcusable conference (think about the Rams and the Saints during the early 90s, horrid) C) Jerry Rice D) he scrambled for a few yards which really overinflates QB ratings I believe.
Steve Young is overrated because he's a 69'er.
I read an article talking about his induction and they were talking about how wonderful his stats were and how many consecutive years they made the playoffs...blah, blah. Put them in the NFC East during those years and they might've made the playoffs twice. His SB ring was a gift from us and Steve Young's HOF induction is a joke, especially since we all know that Aikman will be raked over the coals and probably BARELY get in if at all on the first ballot, despite 3 rings.
I'm not saying Young wasn't a good player, but no way does he deserve a HOF free pass red carpet free of skepticism. Heck, let's put in Trent Dilfer too, after all he won a SB.

Steve Young first ballot HOFer.
Michael Irvin not first ballot HOFer.

Nuff said.

Nuff reason not to go to the HoF. It's not on my list of vacation destinations and not likely to get there until the Cowboys get the respect they deserve and Bob Hayes goes in.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Homerism aside, Young did deserve it before Michael did.

If it is two years from now and Irvin is not in, then I could rationalize the anger.

QBs usually make it first.

Had we not changed coaches in midstream causing us to let that NFC championship game slip away to the 40-whiners then Young would not be going in at all. He was no better than Danny White...he just got lucky.

I really don't think Irvin is going to get in anytime soon.

It will not be next season. ESPN already started their hype for next year's possible selections.

Aikman will get in, but there is no way in hell that 2 Cowboys will be inducted in at the same time.

That would seem unlikely given the history of the HOF voting.

I actually made myself watch the '94 champ game again a few months ago and it is painful. Those turnovers were just killer. They were such a better team than the 9ers that year. Dallas still out scored them after spotting them 21 points and they were hobbled with injuries. Larry Allen was in and out of the game, Emmitt was not himself...it goes on. Switzer killed any chances with his poor coaching near the end of the first half.

I want to use footage of this game in some of my videos...but it is too painful to watch and capture from.

The funny thing was the next year, I really thought SF was better than Dallas and that we would have no chance going back to Candlestick for a 4th straight matchup in the Champ game. Words cannot describe the elation I felt watching Green Bay go in there and take them apart. I will never forget that day, what I was doing, and who I was watching it happen with.
