Everyone talks how last season was a failure for the cowboys. How we were a 13-3 team with 13 pro bowlers and didn't win the super bowl and we are this that and w.e. Wade Phillips might lose his job and blah blah blah w.e. I just wanted to say that I felt that last year's season was a success for many reason.

One our players responded to a new HC regime and responded well. A different offense play book and a new more aggressive 3-4 defense. A better more family like environment instead of a dictatorship under Parcells. So first year under a new head coach we went 13-3 I would love to see how many teams have done that before. Not all the players fit Wade's scheme on our defense with the departure of some of our players that was evident.

Tony Romo hasn't won a play off game yea true he's been there twice. Eli manning didn't win a playoff game until his magical super bowl run. That giant team was a cohesive unit under Coughlin thats was together for 3-4 years under the same coaching system.

So what to look forward to in 08......

A unit that more comfortable under what Wade and Garrett has them doing, A unit that has returned 13 pro bowlers and the core have been together for a couple of years.
A unit that is hungry thirsty talented and is going to win at least 14 games.
NFC east champs again Superbowl Champs

:hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

we can only go up from what we did last year.

After November, last season was a failure. Any time you lose to a team that you should beat, you have failed.

Its great to see the pro-bowlers and whatnot, but last season was disappointing.

IMHO I think it's because of how the season ended. If we had won that playoff game some people might think differently.

well I think we exceed expectations on most parts IDK how many ppl predicted us to go 13-3 I did cuz I a homer like that and break those records. I think it to the point that we are held to a different standard than other teams cuz I don't remember the Colts get this much negative attention when Manning wasn't winning SuperBowls.

last year was a step in the right direction. Success is victory I think as Cowboys fans we should know that by now. Not throwing any jabs, but The Giants season was a success. You know why? Because even thow They had less chances then us to win it all, they steped up when it mattered. That is success.

It's about expectations and opportunity.

Some years, the expectations aren't high and the disappointment isn't so harsh. You may have a young team that is building, or whatever.

After a long playoff drought, Dallas had finally put together an outstanding team capable of winning it all. To see that golden opportunity go up in smoke was hard to take, especially when you see dumb penalties, dropped passes and missed tackles as key culprits.

It was the most disappointed I've been at the end of the season since the loss to the Los Angeles Rams at the end of the 1979 season (Roger's last).

yea but you just don't up and win Super bowl. That giant team been under Coughlin for a while and has fizzled in the playoffs for 2 straight seasons. Even though Eli and Coughlin almost lost their jobs last year they pulled it off some how.

I think We are all happy with the talent and regular season We had last year. But I cannot call it a success because it's not like We have a team that is a couple years away from winning it all. We have all the talent in the world to win now. Expectations going into the regular season was that we would stomp everyone in the playoffs and meet the pats in the Sb. When We failed to even win our First playoff game against a team we beat twice, it was shattering. That was a epic failure. The number one seed, most talented team in the NFC losing to a subpar Giants squad that had no business winning that game. I am still pist off:mad:

IDK if you consider how season a failure. If you look at what we was predicted to go what we went was our odds of making the super bowl before the season started. There was question about Romo.... we didn't have Terry Glenn....Our CB situation wasn't solid....Julius Jones wasn't happy...We had a lot of holes on our team last year.....Akin Adoyele sucks....for us to go 13-3 was overachieving with our with out a playoff win. Now if we don't win this year I will need a new TV.

When you win 13 games and send 13 players to the Pro Bowl, expectations are higher than simply making the playoffs.

That's not good enough.

The team did that in 2006. They were expected to take the next step and at least win a playoff game.

Those expectations were not met.

I think that if you look at the season objectively, you have to say that last year was not a failure. However, I also think it's fair to say that we failed in our ultimate goal, we set for ourselves. In Dallas, it's about championships and I personally hope that this never changes. It should be about championships because that's what you play for.

Yeags makes an excellent point here. We ended the season, not just the playoff game against NY, poorly. We have done this for the past several seasons now. Since the 2003 season (Parcells' first year here), after the Thanksgiving day game, we have posted a record of the following: 11 wins vs 16 losses. We are 0-3 in the playoffs but what really bothers me is this. During that same time frame, we have played something like 13 division games and our record in our own division, after Thanksgiving is 4 wins, 9 losses. In the last 4 seasons, we are like 2 and 10 against our own division, after Thanksgiving. To me, this is really the single biggest reason a 13-3 season is viewed as failure by some. This trend of not playing tough down the stretch has to change or we are destined to relive the same kinds of playoff disappointments year after year IMO.

Considering the makeshift secondary we had...Newman getting hurt and henry... Jacque Reeves being our starting CB....in a new Offensive system....in a different philosophy on defense. I'm pretty sure we exceeded expectations
