Listening to 103.3 in Dallas just now, they were talking about Dez after the game being interviewed. When his catch was brought up he said, "This is DeMarco's team."

Team player.
Leader.
Cheerleader.
Mature.
Character guy.

I'm sure I missed some of the accolades and descriptions about this kid who was a train wreck so the media said when Jerry "reached."

Good for you, Dez.

I agree 110% but most people here don't want to compensate this guy because "anyone can run behind this o-line". That is ridiculous.

Keep in mind that for every Super Bowl this team has won, the team has had a great RB for every one. I think Murray is special and now that we are seeing the pieces fall into place for success now is the time to keep our core players and not let them walk.

And more correctly stated, this is our Offensive Line's team. We could still be competitive if Murray got injured, but if our O-Line is injured then it's a wrap. O-line has simply been our best Offensive weapon and our best Defensive weapon.

I've yet to see anybody say they don't want to compensate the guy. I have seen a lot of people saying they don't want to pay him more than $5M/year, or give him a contract that extends 5 years for a player who will be 27 when it starts at a position where play typically drops off significantly at 28.

Just look around the league and see how many good teams are extending RBs at $5+ AAV deals going forward. On a team where Demarco's yards *before* contact would have him ranked as the third best RB in the league right now, we're in a pretty good position to find a replacement if we really don't want to pay over-market rates for an older back.

I think this is more than a little bit of Dez campaigning for Demarco's contract, right?

Oh, DeMarco showed up in a dirty game condition as well...and that is on the runner.

I think it is a combo much like the triplets of the 90's Dez brings the fire, Murray and the OL bring the physical hammer and Romo brings the grit.

They have some growing also...but I like what I have been privileged to see up to here.

Depends on who gets injured and for how long. Bernie could fill in for Leary, maybe even Fredbeard, for a little while. Cowboys are not so deep at tackle.

As he should. He's a really good player. But really good players at his position get $5M AAV deals these days.

Never mentioned price myself...but Jerry already stated he is being offered at a higher rate than what was signed in free agency for this season. Not my call.

Defensively I see a unit trying to find it's identity currently I see a group of guys struggling at times but constantly hustling, more times than not this season WR will catch a 6 yard pass needing 8 and this unit is coming up fast and stopping it which is why we seem to be winning 3rd down battles in critical situations. For this defense to take the next step more talent will need to be added and hopefully some of that talent will be showing up soon as Lawrence is back on the field and some of our other guys can get up to speed like Spencer.

Winning cures some woes. Murray has been on this team for some time. I would hazard to guess he did not become a leader over night.

When we don't win, we have no leaders. When we do win they appear.

Little sarcasm with some truth in the mix:cool:

There were only a couple bigger name FA RBs signed this off-season and I don't think any of them got eye popping deals. So getting more than any FA RB is not breaking the bank but still might not be in the ballpark of what Murray and his agent wants. Time will tell

I'm pretty sure when it comes push to shove with the FO and the locker room it's Romo's team.

Dez is clearly stating our game plan is to run through Murray first and then everything after that is what needs to be done when it needs to be done to win the game.

Our identity is a tough running football team that's supposed to control the ball, then make plays on offense when needed to win football games (i.e Dez's catch). Defensively a unit that creates turnovers and doesn't allow excessive scoring.

Offense needs to quit it with these turnovers (Murray, Romo), defense needs to refrain from injury and get a pass rush from the edge. Brent and Lawrence are on their way back which will help more than fans know. Spencer hopefully only improves as the rest of this defense seems to be doing.

From outside looking in I think that is what many of us see but I think a lot of the leadership within the team is built on by defeat and the struggles it then you see guys standing up and taking over the reigns and leading the way to get out of the mess.

Dez has come a long way from the kid that was drafted.

He is now the Man IMHO.
