I'd forgotten all about that until he mentioned it again this week. What a way to win over your teammates and a good chunk of the die hard fans in one gutsy play.

I wonder if things would be any different if he didn't make it.

That's a very good question. I know that most fans did not like Romo back then. They said he had a weak arm and many predicted/expected that he would be cut before the season started. If he had failed on that play, the hate would have likely increased considerably.

Wouldn't it be great to see something similar from Dak Saturday night?!

It would be great, but not surprising, because running with the ball was his bread & butter in college...

The "TURN AROUND FOR WATT" play should have cemented him as the most entertaining QB in the league - and nary a peep about it outside of the Cowboy corners.

Some how a lot of fans still don't like him.:huh:

Eh, it's really a pretty small minority both fan wise and media wise now because they look stupid. Even Giants fans I know hate him because he's a Cowboy, but they fear his talent. In fact, to a man they all said when Eli threw that ball away last year to stop the clock they knew the game was over because of Romo.
Must be the fact that he's taken the last 5 outta 6 from them. :lmao:

Even @TonyRomoSucks on the Extreme Skins message board is more a sign of respect. Everybody's going to hate the Cowboy's quarterback.

That was the game that saved him from being cut. He was struggling in preseason but that drive really turned it around for him. Parcells came over to Romo and gave him a pat on the shoulder, never seen Parcells do that with a QB.

These are the threads I love to see. People talking about the boys and remembering and appreciating what people have done for the team. Not bashing each other every other comment lol

So...was that " leaving the reservation"? As Parcells would later coin the phrase..

They do....the problem is, it upended the idea of watt as the greatest ever....because he whiffed on a cowboy lol.

Living in houston, oh man its the best....any texan fan...I'm always like "remember when JJ Watt, the greatest ever, (insert huge grin) got his ankles broken by Tony Romo on a TD Bomb?" lolerskates...they hate it.
