Don't worry about it. This is the camp were we will find out the
Cowboys true future plans at QB. If Henson does not take the number 2 spot this camp, then they will still be looking elsewhere for the future. I'm not drinking the Kool Aid Jim Jones, Romo is not the future. (Jerry Jones will see to that) By the way Bledso will be starter for atleast 2years if we don't win it all this year. Romo will get a hard look, but only because this is the last year of his contract. This is my take on it. Take it or leave it.

I hope not for two more years, not including this year for Bledsoe. But yeah, if Bledsoe doesn't retire after this year, then I guess most likely Romo will leave, whether Cowboys want him or not, since he wont have a chance to compete for starting spot. And if someone in market is offering that chance to Romo, then he will leave. I guess that is assuming he wins no. 2 spot.

And yeah, cowboys most likely will have to look for QB in Draft and I am afraid they wont find one at where they will pick, especially if as many expect, cowboys have successful season.

I agree. Romo will get a good hard look because I believe that this is it for him as well. I think that Henson will need to show he can be that guy. I thought it was very interesting what BP had to say about Henson. When asked what he needed to see, he said he didn't know what he didn't see. He just new he hadn't seen it. That, to me, is interesting. I believe that Romo has to do things this year. I believe that Henson has to show that he's worth developing as the number 1. I don't think Henson will be gone but I do think he will not be viewed as the future if he can't show BP whatever it is he's looking for. Wow, how great is that?

"What do I need to show you coach?"

"I don't know, but get out there and let me see it!"

:laugh2:

BP said Romo is going to play a lot more this pre-season.

That makes me believe Parcells has allready got his mind made up without giving Henson a fair shot at it.

I think Henson will be able to outplay Romo if they have the same chance at the job this year but by the way BP is talking he's allready got his mind made up.

we'll find out BP and Jerry's future plans for the QB position next offseason, and thusly how far Romo and/or Henson are, by whether they decide to exercise the option on Bledsoe, making him a Free Agent, or not, if that happens, I think ROmo would be more inclined to re-up

He didn't outplay him last year. I think Bill is just being realistic in that he would rather have Romo as ready as possible in case Bledsoe goes down instead of worrying about a 'fair' competition.

Plus they have to make contract decisions on Romo that they don't have to worry about with Henson. If Bledsoe does stay healthy all year, these pre-season games will be the last thing they have to go on.

Very good point, yeah, it would make total sense in giving more chances in pre-season to determine, if Tony is worth talking contract extension.

My opinion is BP doesn't like either guy and prays that Bledsoe makes it through another season healthy. There was not really any veteran to pick up that was worth anything. If Romo is a restricted free agent, I don't see anyone making him some big offer that the Cowboys can't match if they really want to.

There is not a vet out there as good as bledsoe-not even close. And all the rest are unproven backups like we have now. Not a whole lot of choice.
No way we get a top QB next year without giving up our entire draft and more. Might as well try and see if what we have now will work out.

I'd give up our entire draft. If we can get our OL solved this year, all of a sudden, we're really in pretty good shape at almost every position, except perhaps WR. I'd seriously consider giving up our entire draft to bring in a blue chip QB prospect next year. On the other hand, a guy like Palmer out of UTEP might not cost the entire draft. Everybody wants Quinn, including me BTW, but Quinn is not the only QB prospect out there.

Then you can join Mr. Ditka on the unemployment line.

It would take a HUGE set of COJONES to do it- but for Quinn- if he does even better this year then last- would be the one to do it for. Unfortunately, if he does improve, probably even our entire draft would not be enough- would probably have to throw in the 2008 first as well.

You know, it's interesting. If you look at the teams around the league, not many really need QBs.

Baltimore has Bollinger who could figure it out or Baltimore could need one.
Buffalo invested in Loseman and has Holcomb.
Cincy has Palmer
Cleveland has Frye
Denver took Cutler and has Plummer
Houston seems to have settled on Carr
Indy has Payton
Jags have Leftwich
KC has Green and drafted Brodie Croyle in the 3rd.
Miami has Culpepper and Harrington
New England has Brady
Jets took there guy Clemmens in the 2nd Rd.
Oakland has Walter, who they like a lot, and still have Collins I think.
Steelers have Roath
San Diego has Rivers
Tennessee has Young and McNair.
Cards have Warner and just drafted Lienart
Falcons have Vick and Schaub
Carolina has Delhomme
Bears have Grossman, Orton and Griese
Detroit has McCown, Kitna and Orlovsky so maybe there. I don't know.
Green Bay has Favre and Rodgers.
Vikings took Travaris Jackson and they still have Johnson but they might.
Saints have Brees
GMen got the other Manning.
Philly has McNappie
49ers just took Smith number one over all in 2005.
Seattle has Hasselbeck
Rams have Bulger but I don't know.
Bucs have Simms, McCown and Ratty.
Skins have Brunnell, Ramsey and Campbell.

There are maybe 4 teams that might need a QB. Maybe less, as it stands right now.

You got Quinn, Palmer, Brohm, Stanton, Henne, Keller, Leak, just to name a couple. If we wanted to trade up for a guy like Quinn or Palmer or Brohm (assuming he's elligable) it may not take as much as you might think.

Agreed. I want the future QB to be on the roster as much as anyone else, but if Henson doesn't even show enough in practice, why should he get a shot in the games. Pedigree only gets you that far in the NFL. ANd ive rooted for Henson since we signed him.

Im talking about this year. I think who ever is the best should be the #2 QB and I don't think Parcells is even going to give Henson a fair shot.

If Henson clearly outplays Romo I believe Romo will still be #2 regardless of how good Henson is.

It maybe because of Romo's value as Holder too. I mean, assuming Henson seems to be better than Romo in TC and pre-season and Romo not beating out Henson that is.

And like in Philly, when the no. 1 is injured for extensive time, it might be the third QB that gets to play instead of No. 2.
