It is this type of post that usually sends me into writing a book length reply.
Suffice to say this.
Landry took an expansion franchise of crap players from other teams, weeded out the less talented and assembled a team that could win.
Opie had a pretty gifted team handed to him regardless of the results of the last year Wade was here. He has followed that with a scintillating record as a head coach of two 8-8 seasons.
Landry built it, Opie inherited it. The difference is night and day.
It is this kind of reply that makes me wonder about the intelligence of the Cowboys fanbase. Maybe I can help you with a little history lesson. 1960 Tom Landry took over as head coach for the Dallas Cowboys and the team made up of castoffs from the other franchises went 0-11 with 1 tie landing them in 7th place. It took this team a total of six seasons to reach .500 in 1965.
1966 10-3-1 lost conference championship
1967 9-5 lost conference championship
1968 12-2 lost division playoff game
1969 11-2 lost division playoff game
1970 10-4 lost super bowl
1971 11-3 and the fanbase (probably your father or grandfather) felt that Landry could not get his team to win the big games.
well, things changed.
