2 words: Marinelli & Loyalty. Let me start by saying, I AM a huge Marinelli supporter, I am NOT a Kiffin supporter, but stay with me for a second. Marinelli is the most important coach on the defensive staff and he proved his loyalty last year when he refused to take over after Lovie was fired. I think you could see that again.

Think about our current DL situation for this year and more importantly the future. Hatcher is probably gone next year, we can't afford him and he always says weird things in his interviews like "I hope I can play in a similar system next year." Ware is on the decline, and we have no idea about Crawford or Bass. Selvie will be a nice rotational guy as will Nevis.

We are going to have to overhaul this DL in the off-season anyway we can. There is no person in the NFL better for the job then Marinelli. I don't see him staying if Jerry fires Kiffin. Were between a rock and a hard place with this situation. This offseason there is nothing more important position wise then the DL. Were going to lose a massive amount of pass rush when Hatch and Spence walk added with Ware declining. We need Marinelli next year so bad that I would give him a raise. Go Cowboys

Now what would make me even happier is if the steelers would can Tomlin & we could somehow lure him to be an extremely high paid DB coach..... Like really high paid lol

I don't know that Kiffin will be back, but I could see it. From what I've read he's only on a one-year contract, so he may only be here for the 4-3 transition with Marinelli slotted to take over afterward.

That said, there is a lot of cawing about how outdated Kiffin's system is or whatever, but Kiffin is not a dummy - guaranteed that with a few spots on the roster rotated, this defense as it is now gets a ton better.

I highly doubt it.. Jerry basically saying he regrets firing Rob Ryan speaks volumes.

The thing is I don't know if anyone would hire Kiffin if he were let go.

His schemes are just too easy for these elite QB's to pick apart.

The only thing we have going for us is our ability to create turnovers but we play with such little urgency on offense that we rarely take advantage of it.

That's what I was always thinking. But he may be hesitant to ride off into the sunset on such an injury-depleted, statistically terrible year. So people are thinking that the poor year means Kiffin won't return, but it may be that it increases the odds of his return actually, for another year before the retirement and pass-off to Marinelli.

We aren't losing anything from Spencer. He hasn't played at all this year other than a few snaps. You might as well assume that he left last year and took Jerry's money (and cap room) with him. Otherwise I agree with the general premise of what you are saying and it has some merit. On the other hand, if Kiffen stays and we suck defensively overall, what good will it do to keep Marinelli. I'm just sayin'.

I for sure want marinelli here hes the best coach we have by far! But I dont want kiffen here. Being the worst d in the league and setting records for the worst d ever sure doesnt warrant another try in my book. We failed to see any halftime adjustments minus the raiders game.

I honestly dont see what the big deal is about Marinelli. What has he done thats so magical? Selvie has played well and Hatcher is playing as expected but there is nothing else thats impressive. Defense is so poor I dont see how any coach should be getting praise. I see all the hate for JG despite only being here four years he is just a couple games over .500. over the same amount of games Marinelli was about 30 games UNDER .500, thats just not too impressive as a HC. Anyway, I had high hopes coming into this season for this defense but its been a utter nightmare.
Perhaps things will start to come together but I wouldnt cry if Kiffen was shown the door.

If Dallas miss the playoffs I wouldn't count on anybody being back.

If anything that should further enforce the line of thinking that he won't fire Kiffen.

Nah, because the defense is even worse.. Granted we've had injuries and we do get more turnovers but Kiffen is like 95 lol and I don't think we'll get much better with him as the DC.

I think our problems have much more to do with personnel then coaching.

Rob Ryan's defenses were arguably slightly worse then Kiffin's was this year. People act like the defensive problems suddenly sprung out of nowhere.

Rob had three years and failed to significantly improve the defense. I would expect Kiffin to get some time to rebuild.

To clarify Rob was here two years and not three. My edit timer ran out.

age dosent matter.....you are going to get any better firing coaches every year..i blame this season on injury's completely.... Lee..MO..Dline...ware for a few..spencer never played...Iknow that is the easy way out.WE need a new S Church would be a great back up and he is probably the best tackling DB we have but its time for a change..
I so badly wanted earl thomas or kenny vaccaro.

What about if a team hires Lovie? Wonder who he chooses between Kiffin and Lovie
