This is why I think the Cowboys are secretly targeting a QB

Questioning Romo's long-term viability is realistic. Calling Romo "injury prone" is ridiculous. Previous to 2015, he hadn't missed more than one game since 2010, when he broke his back. Prior to that, he had missed three games total going back to 2008.

So it's the top priority on our list but yet we have done absolutely nothing at the position and there will not be much available after the draft.

Maybe we could trade for someone like Nick Foles but I doubt it.

Do we even have a backup right now? Is Kellen Moore even signed?

I personally think the Cowboys were blown away by Wentz at the Senior Bowl and all of the talk by Jerry saying Romo has 4 or 5 years left and that we're not interested in a QB is just him playing poker.

Dallas wants a QB.. They want Wentz and as we get closer to the draft I expect to start seeing rumors about us going up to get him if need be.

That's probably the best argument for it. However, I don't think it necessarily means Dallas is targeting one in the first round. Wanting a viable backup QB and wanting to spend a first-round pick on a QB are separate things. I think we'll take one in the first three rounds, just not sure it will be the first round.

True. But my point was that if that's Jerry's attempt to throw a curveball to other NFL GMs as it relates to their draft plans, I don't think it worked.

Could be he's just spouting off like he does again though he might be blowing another smokescreen.

They very well could.

Or they could just take Ramsey like they should.

If the draft starts Tunsil, Goff, Wentz then that is perfect for our immediate future.

We're stupid though if we think Wentz is a franchise QB and we don't make a play.

We being us Cowboy fans or Jerry? Did anybody here establish that Jerry is smart about football.
The oil business maybe!

can we expect adequate dismay and anger if/when they don't choose a qb?

Don't forget at the Senior Bowl Jerry went out of his way to go talk to Wentz on a cold windy day. When does he do that?

It's conveniently overlooked to push the narrative.

The funny thing is, it's unnecessary. Romo could be in perfect health and the narrative would still exist. The draft a QB at all costs club doesn't care one iota about Romo's health, they just need every bullet point they can get.

I love Romo too but at some point he is going to look like that QB we saw in the opening game against San Fran in 2014 every week and the good Romo won't be around that often.

It happens to all of them.

He already can't practice every day and the offense doesn't do anything to help him get rid of the ball quick.

No matter how good the OL is he will take punishment because of how our offense is designed. He has to be Houdini.

So imo just take Wentz and be done with it. Hopefully Wentz doesn't play a snap in year 1 for us and if he does I feel 10 x better about him making a play and winning us a game than I do about Moore or Cassell getting us a W.

You feel 10x better that Wentz as a rookie will be better then Moore or Cassel..........hype train continues to roll on haha amazing

I feel much better about using almost every pick this year to upgrade the defense (and a few key pieces like WR and OT), and then go all in next year to trade up for a guy like Josh Rosen next year. He's going to be a good one.

Rosen isnt draftabe until 2018, when 25 other teams will also be interested.

It's conveniently overlooked to push the narrative.

Is it? Romo has missed 27 games since being made the starter in 2006. By comparison, too quarterbacks like Brees have missed two games. And Hall of Famers Brady and Manning have been Iron Men saved for one missed season for each.

Many of us believe that Romo's health opissues are a legitimate cause for concern.

Most people if want a QB aren't romo haters or romo is done guys. I for one love romo and hope he plays 10 more years. But the reality is he is not playing 10 more years. As for injury I've never really bought into the injury prone stuff for most players and certainly not romo. It's really about the future. Sometime in the next few years romo is not going to be the QB here. And when that time comes it just seems logical to me to have another QB ready. People complained when we tagged spencer, well that's what happens when you don't have a replacement ready. As for why now? Well if you think romo can play say 3 more years at a high level then you would have to think we aren't going to be picking in the top 10, let alone the top 5 in those 3 years, so the cost of getting a QB in any of those years will be extremely high. Just because a fan thinks a QB now is a smart move doesn't mean he hates romo or thinks he is done. But someday he will be done and the price of getting a QB is as cheap as it's ever going to be as far as picks

I thought they wanted Goff from California all along, similarities to Aikman and this guy is more pro ready in my opinion.I think when it is said and done they get their man.And I do not believe Wentz is going to be all that.

Pro days overall are a joke I watched one the other day.The guys makes some throws no rushers no snow and wind, not 300 lbers all over him.I have in my lifetime seen pro games ground level and to say it looks like ants on sugar is an understatement. The corners blitz, the lineman drop into coverage. You have 2.5 seconds to get rid of the ball.Wentz is not close to that speed and decision making. But a qb is coming here folks.I also honestly believe the Romo window has already closed.A man with a bad back is done in the NFL folks they all know which vertebrae to hit him in.People forget the week Romo got collarbone he needed a pre game pain shot and looked like old man river.Father time is coming for him.

Kellen Moore is signed and the coaching staff, especially the OC, is just fine with him being the backup QB for this year. I think you are right that
the Boys are going to draft a QB this year but, not in the first round unless they trade down and then trade back into the 1st round to get the guy Jerry
went to see at his pro day. I think if that falls through, you will see them maneuver to get Prescott in the 3rd or early 4th round. Their interest in Wentz
and Goff is strictly for "chum in the water" to get some team to trade up. Jerry does not value QB's standing on the sidelines carrying a clipboard and
signing checks worth 5mil+ per year.

It's funny that everyone thinks the Cowboys are drafting a QB to replace Moore...when Romo is the problem.
