I know all of you fans as well as me want to put the blame on Roy Williams and Henry being hurt, however as I really focused on our defense yesterday I noticed something that seemed odd.
I am going to have to share the blame on blown coverage assignments on Brady James. It's one of two things.1.Either he is not getting deep enuff on his drops or the secondary is playing entirely to deep,or maybe a combination of them both.If you remember during the Giants game Roy was upset and looked as if he was blameing somebody else for the Shockey touchdown.
I can't complain about the way the season is shakeing out and I am sure we will adjust and overcome these matters. It's just that here we are going into week 12 and the defense isn't on the same page.

It definitely seems as if the linebackers arent getting deep enough in their zones and really do nothing. when ellis drops into coverage so many times teams just throw right into his zone and he does nothing about it. our guys need to realize that your supposed to cover that guy that goes into your zone.

if carp cannot get onto the field i really think ilb starts becoming a need. carp was an excellent coverage linebacker last season but if he cannoit do it we need someone who can because its hurting us.

this defense needs a donnie edwards type.

The LBers should take a bulk of the blame.

A majority of the completions came within 6 yards of LOS.

I believe that is their area.

I think it depends on the coverage. As I recall, the Phillips' 3-4 employs a lot of cover 3, which drops two corners and the free safety into deep coverage while leaving the strong safety (Roy Williams) in coverage near the line of scrimmage.

I could very well be wrong, but blaming Dallas' coverage miscues on the linebackers is just as specious as blaming Roy for everything.

Use our two firsts for Laurinaitis?

ANOTHER 1st on a LB? Man, I was hoping this was the year we focused on getting some young, dynamic skill players (ie WR since TG is on his last leg-literally) on offense! We don't seem to have any glaring needs so I guess another LB wouldn't be TOO bad...as long as it's a can't miss prospect and not a converted DE who has to grow into the position! Personally, if we go defensive in the first I hope it's a DB!

I think they all share the blame...as do Stewart and Bowles and Paul P. for not putting their players in better position in coverage. If they'd communicate better on the field I'm sure they'd end up being better as a unit! It sucks that 11 weeks into the season our defensive players don't seem to be on the same page!
*btw Scipio, do you and nyc get along alright w/ you being an Autobot and he's a Decepticon?!:laugh2: *

that is because Greg Ellis is really NOT a linebacker....it really hurts that we missed on Bobby Carpenter...because we need speed at the interior lber position in the worst way. This defense was built to stop the run. Which is why Henry was brought in (he is not a pure cover CB)...Roy was resigned...smallish lbers were banished...but the next draft needs to be about adding speed to this team...this is why our special teams are terrible...big hulking lbers with no SPEED....we need more speed in the secondary, WR corps and linebacker corps...we have plenty of bullies, not lets get a little lightning.
