When all the key starters are healthy, not suspended and contributing, this team does pretty well. Especially with a bottom feeder schedule like in '14 and '16.
But you sprinkle any kind of adversity with the personnel, the team withers.
Coaching? Absolutely. Starting with but not limited to Garrett. Way past time to move on from Linehan and especially Marinelli as well.
GM? Well, yes as well. Jerry/Stephen hires/fires the coaches. That's exponentially more of an issue than personnel, though it appears that 2015 draft was quite abysmal. Thanks to Wade, they've actually hit on some draft picks. Best in the NFL? No, but not in the bottom half either.
It's not as much as Jerry making yet another overhaul to the coaching staff. That's been done before. It's about allowing the HC to pick his staff and pick his own groceries. We haven't had that since early in the Parcells era. Then when Jerry went after TO during the spring of '06, BP started thinking about an exit plan.
And the rest has been history. There's Jerry and Stephen running the show, and the rest are nothing more than lackies.
How on Earth is that gonna change as long as Jerry is the owner and GM? Will Stephen actually hire a GM when he becomes owner after Jerry dies? That's the bigger question folks.
