Yet we still find ways to lose in the end. Which seems to be our identity. We had an opportunity to upset Denver. What happened? The offensive line collapsed at the end, and Romo was forced into throwing a pick. What happened in San Diego? Terrance Williams fumbles at the end. The offensive line simply didn't protect romo well enough in Kansas City and we never established the run.

We've got to avoid these things going forward. Get off to early leads and use the running game to our advantage. We really need Murray to come back and be healthy.

We also found ways to win 4 times.

1st win - Defensive stops/turnovers at the end when history suggested Eli driving down the field for a win

2nd win - Dominance start to finish

3rd win - Team resolve in the 4th when game was starting to slip away. Offense 10 straight points combined with big sack/turnover by defense

4th win - Again the team closing a game out that they have been blown in the past. Great TD drive in the 4th after a bad turnover. Defense putting up a wall.

I think if you look we are winning games we have not won in the recent past. Yes there is still along way to go but things are definitely pointing upwards

It will come down to Stafford vs. Romo, whoever has the better game, and makes the least mistakes will win.

Romo is going to outplay Stafford I guarantee. Our defense will do more against Stafford than theirs will against Romo. They have one or two threats we need to contain, we will be hitting them from all sides. They don't have a #2 like TWill or a Beas or a Witten.

It goes to inconsistency to me.

The defense allowed less than 20 points in 4 games.
The offense has scored more than 20 points in 5 games.

We've been in every game that we lost. We're 3rd in points scored and we're 16th in points allowed. We also played Denver who is #1 by far.

After all these years we're still a team that doesn't have an identity.

I agree that we lack identity, I think that it comes somewhat from our "who's in charge" management situation, real or imagined, hard to gain traction or establish an identity under those circumstances IMO.

I agree that we played close in our losses (2 elite teams), but we also played down to our low-rent division rivals to a certain degree. This will be a good challenge from an upper middle class opponent, and an important victory, if we can manage it.

The defense has been very good for past two week and I'm hoping they will continue to play well and if they can limit Lions offense, I'll feel very good about rest of the season.

I do think offense need to pick it up some and I think they will against the Lions.

But no road game is easy so it will be a fought game, of course Cowboys will leave with a win. :)

When you're 4-3 every game is a test. Especially from here on out. WE still don't know how good or bad this Cowboys team is and they seem to be getting better by the game after these last 3 outings. All of these games are good tests.

This game is a test cause its on the road and we need to distance ourselves from the division. The Vikings game is a test to make sure this team doesn't let down and can win a game its supposed to win. The Saints game is a test to see if we can beat a supposed elite team in this league.

Every game is a test, but for this squad with its various disappointments in the past, each game will signify if things have changed from the past or not........and that is the test.

Things have changed as for the results of those changes that is to be determined.

I agree, this is the type of game that if we can win I´ll start to believe that we can actually do some damage come playoff time, if not, then it´s same ol same ol.

So, personally, I'm already excited. I always like when my team is in sole possession of first place early on in the season. It shows something. And in our division it shows we are the best. We have a 3-0 record again divisional opponents. I argue we face some really good talent, i.e, Eli Manning, RG III, Michael Vick.

I think our guy, Tony Romo, has something special. I think we've always treated him like a step child and given him second best when it comes to offensive linemen.

I have not been a homer, because in close games Garrett has a hard time getting it done with simple things that cost us. Those things are critical to success.

But I think this is a great group of players who can step it up against Detroit. But this is a real test, I think. If we win and the Eagles lose, we can have a real grip on 1st place. And if we lose and the Eagles win, we'll be tied with them for the division--all in one game.

So this next game is a test to see where we are in the conversation of New Orleans and Seattle. We have the firepower to do it, I think. But where we are as a team is a question. There is a lot riding on this next game.

it is a test until we win, then it will be the next game

We can agree that we think things have changed, but until they prove it on the field with more wins, what we think is meaningless.

They have, changes on OL, changes at WR, Changes on Defense there are many changes that took place. What will the end results be who knows but this is not the same old same old as some like to put it.

I agree with you, things started changing when our drafts started improving alone. But they still have to prove it by increasing wins....as you say it has to show in the results.

I think it will, but we still have to wait and hope.

That is the change we all want the change in results but I think they have done quit a bit in terms of changes within the team itself.

We have nice things like the emergence of Terrance Williams. Mind you, he is a rookie wide receiver and fans are already saying to replace him with the once-coveted Miles Austin. So Austin is the odd man out, which makes him low man on the totem pole.

I mean, one would think the WR line up would be Desmond, Williams and Beasley in the slot. Most fans wouldn't argue with me there.

Then, Escobar is emerging quite nicely. I've seen us draft players in the past that were not ready to play their whole first year. And we've gotten good play out of Escobar and Williams. Plus, Beasley has emerged. It just makes the offense that much better. I mean a team that can put Miles Austin as the 4th WR on the depth chart?

That's success.

This draft was a real hit. Good for the team.

Changes mean jack if they dont equate to actual wins on the field. Jacksonville can change their uniform, change their meeting times, change their practice schedule, change the type of guys they draft and sign...........but if they still suck come Sunday afternoon, it really didnt mean jack.

I guess it comes down to what a HOF head coach once said, "You are what your record says you are".

If we lose to Detroit, we will be a .500 ball club sitting at 4-4. The team last year was a .500 ball club that finished 8-8. The year before that, this team was again a .500 ball club at 8-8. The point is that if we lose to Detroit, we are exactly the "same old same old" Cowboys because we will be a .500 team just like those teams were. It doesnt matter what changes have been made over the past three seasons if the team continues to be .500 every year.

Professional sports is a results oriented business. Head coaches are fired, players are released, free agents make millions, ect....................all based off what happens on the scoreboard. So unless the changes a team makes show up on the scoreboard at some point, they really mean jack.
