Brooksey, is it supposed to make us feel better that Dunbar sucked in pass protection and gave up those sacks? He's slated to play a lot this year. And this is the one year we can't afford any Chris Gronkowski moments. Romo's collarbone didn't care that it wasn't an offensive lineman that busted his assignment.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I was talking about your quote "losing battles and resorting to bad techniques" which you claim resulted in those penalties.

Back it up.

So again, real slow for you. What causes penalties? Perfect technique and winning battles?

Most of the time it's mental. If you think in this particular case, it's because we were losing battles and resorted to bad techniques, simply back it up (sample plays & time from video).

Post it up, I'll check it out.

The video is up from the first half.

2 sacks from Lance Dunbar and (1) from Leary.

I wouldn't call that "Outmatched" against a Top 5 D-line .

Lance Dunbar is a liability in pass protection, that's all I can get from the video. Let me know where and when on the tape you see the bad techniques or are you just jumping on the negative bandwagon this morning?

I thought we talked about this.

Those sacks you're attributing were blown assignments by the offensive live that came right up the middle. I didn't catch who the Olineman was but Dunbar should have never been put in that position. I'll give you that he can't block any better than a wet piece of bread neither of those is his fault. They were missed by the line.

You didn't catch who it was? I did. One was Leary getting beat on an inside move, one was Mac never seeing the guy, two were Dunbar on LB Blitzes.

Sorry but the RB has blocking responsibilities on blitzing linebackers. He saw them both and could not make the block.

No it's a big concern. If Dunbar is a liability it's tough to put him back there on 3rd down in the shotgun. It has to be cleaned up.

I'm just pointing out where the problem was. People talking about Tyron or Free regressing are just talking out of their....

This is what I could never wrap my head around. The second we drafted Martin, so many said this was one of the best OL's in the league. And they have yet to play a snap together. I saw an OL that had Romo in trouble constantly and was very poor at run blocking.

Free is terrible and Tyron seems to have regressed a little.

That's mainly it. Too many unrealistic expectations. People claiming they could outpace the 2013 Denver Broncos, HAHAHAHAHAHA

Yeah....you're just making things up. Nobody has said this offense was going to be the best of all time.

Everyone step away from the ledge.

The Tyron Smith detractors really have absolutely no footing.
Freebeard is in his second year and already a top-5 C.
Martin is learning a new scheme and is next to Doug Free...
Free looked like a hot mess.

We will have a top-5 offensive line this year. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind. You can't project good OR bad over such a miniscule sample size. Miami has a very talented front seven and still had to sell out to get pressure--which they did. Once Romo has had more time with the receivers this season, he will eat those blitzes alive. Mainly, he has to stop forcing it to Beasly.

..... but please, don't let my lack of negativity get in the way of your ledge walk.

They practice against scrubs, then face some real talent and well, they're not prepared. Time for Garrett and the O-line coach to crack the whip. Still plenty of time to polish it up.

I'm more of the belief it's time for Garrett to get a pink slip.

Outside of 15-20 snaps vs the Ravens and a few practice drills vs Oakland, the Dallas OL hasn't faced real legitimate DL talent throughout the entire training camp/preseason. I believe it's a difficult transition when suddenly facing equal or even better talent in game action after you've been dominating mostly inferior players in practice for nearly a month. No excuse, but thats a factor in their performance IMO.

Ultimately I think they will be fine. The talent is there to be a top 10 group. Game planning and studying the opponent will help negate the problem I mentioned above.

You always are like that though. I've been here long enough to know. Kind of like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh.

You know, Sir...before every season's exhibition games I expect to go into a stadium and get entertained by Bill Clinton. But I have a dream, of going in with the same expectations, and instead find Geroge Clinton and the funk starts!

One thing that posters have consistently gotten wrong in this thread...

The hype surrounding his OL was not from the offseason but rather what they did last year.

This OL was top 5 last season and added another, better piece.

It will be fine. They're allowed to have a bad game, especially in the preseason.
