This past week feels like the Herschel Walker trade

I was thrilled then and thrilled now. The day I was disappointed was when Landry was fired. I moved on though from that day as the big picture was revealed. Great past week though!

This week makes me feel similar to how I felt after the Walker trade.

Many people actually thought the Cowboys were dumb to make that trade but I loved it.

Most people seem to love the moves this time.

Most people do HATE this move because they are Cowboy haters. Rest of us......:lmao:

Longer if we can follow Romo with another steal. That's going to be the challenge.

But hopefully we have a few more seasons before we have to deal with it.

I think you're going to see next year's draft as the draft of the "offensive skill player".

-RB
-QB
-WR
And the Cowboys' yearly pick of a TE. :)

Depends on the QB. He's not for long. I could never be high on a team's future if they don't have a QB in place behind the aging starter.

It's a QB driven league. It's hard to find that franchise guy. The teams that have them, win. They teams that don't are just forever mired in mediocrity until they find one.

That's the next big hurdle.

Far more so than a RB IMO.

I was thinking the last time I felt this giddy about the Cowboys was when they dealt Steve Walsh for a one, a two and a three.

That one completely shocked me at the time. I couldn't believe the Saints thought Walsh was worth that much.

I'm seriously hoping this is the turning point for the franchise. On paper, we have a treasure trove of talent. McClain and Sean Lee manning the LB position? Hardy, Gregory and Lawrence as pass rushers? Dez, Williams and Beasley for WR. Witten and Romo?

One thing I really like about this team is that they seem to take pride in being here. This is a tough team. Teams won't be able to come on our field and clown around. That's a beautiful thing.

If we can somehow get the secondary going.... Oh my. Hopefully the rush straightens them out.

Who thought it was dumb? Must be something I just missed. I loved it. Love this off season too. Might change my sn if we do what we are capable of.

I'm referring to the Walker trade. Jerry/Jimmy were widely laughed at when that trade was made. Randy Galloway was probably the leader of the pack on that. The vast majority of the fans that hated Jerry for firing Landry also hated the Walker trade.

I am pretty certain that we won't be drafting a OL in the 1st round next year.

Not that draft grades mean anything, and this doesn't change any grades. But it sure makes any pundits low grades a mute point now.

But off season grades and opinions sure are changed now.

A lot of GMs and members of the media thought it was dumb. They thought Jerry and Jimmy were bumpkins who traded their best player away.
I can't tell you who. But I remember reading many articles ridiculing the Cowboys. I remember the stories because I used to work at a newspaper, and we subscribed to the AP wire, which fed us stories from all over the country.

In hindsight knowing we got Gregory and Collins,I would have tried like heck to move up for Todd Gurley.

But we wouldn't have got Gregory. We would have had to give up a second to move up to get Gurley. I believe Gregory would have gone either late second or by the time our third round pick came up.

So I guess we can consider it trading DeMarco Murray for three first-rounders?

Would make me feel better if we had used one to draft Emmitt Smith. :)
