The thing that I see maddening is this...... during JG's wasted tenure the 49'ers had a 5 year span where they were rebuilding. JG could never get Dallas past the 1st round while the 49'ers have now gone to 4 NFC championships and 2 super bowls.

What's "impressive" is how Garrett avoided losing seasons and playoff seasons at the same time.
4 8-8 seasons, 1 9-7 season for a combine 0 playoff games.

Offense wasn't this team's biggest problem.

Depends how you look at it. The offense had the investment and the players. We lost multiple games by using it poorly. Using the offense more effectively would have been the most high impact correction to the team.

They mean you are at least putting out a competitive team that has a chance to get to the Super Bowl. For example, if we had made it to the conference championship this past season it would be a lot easier to go into this season thinking we are a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

It's been frustrating watching the Steelers, 49ers, Packers and other legacies find their mojo again while we sit in Playoff mediocrity. The Giants and Eagles having their seasons too. But I think I'll truly lose it if Washington manages to fix their sinking ship before us.

Yet many of us could see that Garrett needed to be fired just like many of us can see that overpaying Dak doesnt give this team the best chance to win.

Sad graphic indeed. What's worse? How many of those 'not pictured' were #1 seeds going into the postseason? Dallas ...twice, once in 2007, and the other in 2016. Also made it to the divisional round on the road in '09, '14, and '18. Basically had more chances than those other teams.

Whether it was coaching, the players, bad luck, or whatever, it is what it is. I've been a big critic of JJ, but the fact is this team was in position to make a legit playoff run in 5 of the last 13 seasons. Or at least 2 (with the #1 seed).

Translation: the roster was there. Now, with not having a championship defense in 25 years, I'm not sure we would have won a SB. But we could have gotten there. Hell, if the Raiders could make it in 2002 or whenever, we could have too.
