In 2010, the Cowboys, who entered the season as legitimate playoff contenders, unexpectedly stumbled to a disastrous 1-7 start to their season. Meanwhile, the NFC East title came down to the Giants and Eagles, who were tied for the division lead late in the season.
The Giants had a relatively good season but were defeated twice by the Eagles to fall just short of the playoffs. Philadelphia won the division title.
This year, the Giants entered the season as legitimate playoff contenders but have unexpectedly stumbled to a disastrous 0-5 start to the season (which could very well be 0-6 a couple of hours from now.) Meanwhile, it looks possible that the NFC East may come down to the Cowboys and Eagles, who are tied for the NFC East lead at the moment.
The Cowboys have turned in a somewhat decent season compared to the Giants (almost any team looks good compared to the Giants,) but those two games against the Eagles will be crucial. Losing twice or even just once to the Eagles could very well hand the division title to Philadelphia.
(Yes I know, I've overlooked the Commanders.)
