I base my opinion over the entire body of work over 8 years..............I see a head coach that has won 53% of his games and one playoff win.

If that track record gets you all hot and bothered and you think Garrett is the greatest thing since sliced bread, then fine. But just because others don't agree with your opinion doesn't make "you right" and "others wrong".

56.3.%. And I didn't say it gets me hot and bothered or that he's great. Just like I didn't say anybody was stupid.

I said you guys don't know how to evaluate coaches honestly. In response to commments earlier in the thread suggesting Garrett is on his last legs as a coach in Dallas when he clearly is not.

I've always said the worst part about being a Cowboys fans is other Cowboys fans. It's never more obvious than in a season where things are rough. Hell half the fans said Parcells was washed up and the game passed him bye. Our fan base is the most entitled, narcissist fans in pro sports.

Yep. Our fans are terrible that way.

We're actually 5-4 right now. Team's come from 5-4 to play in Superbowls.

I’m pretty sure that if you are the reigning Coach of the Year in the middle of a long term contract (with Jerry, to boot) then it’s not really all that big of a fork.
You are so right. I wish you were wrong though. That fork is microscopic! Jerry loves him some Clapper. Although, after last week not giving our inept backup tackles any help and the GB game were we obviously( except to the coaching staff) gave Rogers to much time. Maybe there is a glimmer of hope and Jerry will finally give Garrett his walking papers.

I didn't say stupid. And I'm not better than that. I 100% think you guys overreact emotionally, suffer from groupthink, and put way too much emphasis on things you hear Aikman and Buck say on game day.

I've seen board popular opinion be 100% wrong more times than I can count. Fan consensus literally means nothing to me. Everything that matters agrees with my own estimation that Garrett is actually a pretty good coach. Drafting and developing talent. Player and staff consensus. Winning percentage. Large, long extensions by management, multiple recent 12+ winning seasons, and HCotY hardware.

Why in the world would I change my mind just because the team is 5-4 and fans are angry we didn't go to Byron Bell sooner last week? The same Byron Bell that gave up sacks at a higher rate than Green did when he got into the game anyway.
Fans are not angry because Garrett did not go to Bell sooner( he was terrible too). They are angry because Garrett allowed one JAG to run around both our inept backup tackles ALL game long. It’s called chipping and every decent High School coach would have done it, BUT Garrett disn’t. If you like mediocrity Garrett is a pretty good NFL coach.

Not really. They had similar starts. Jason's got a higher win percentage. And playoff wins aren't 'token.' But it's not like Marvin is the bad coach he's made out to be here when people want to compare him with Garrett. He's had a fair bit of success in a market that doesn't exactly stack the deck for coaches.

It doesn't change the fact that you guys don't know how to evaluate coaches honestly.
the only way I know to evaluate a coach is by his playoff wins if you win lots of them then your regular season record is really good one playoff win in eight years is not a very good standard by any stretch of the imagination

Fans are angry at Garrett for one reason or other for each loss, and give him. Oncredit for any wins. That's just the way it works in Dallas.

Hey, I'm happy the goal post has been moved to playoff wins. It speaks well for the direction of the franchise, at least. That wasn't always the case here, though, so let's not forget.

And I will say that guys who build franchises that consistently win playoff games are generally among the best coaches in the league. And that's not remotely close to the book on Garrett here. If that was the tone of the debate we were having, I probably wouldn't say you guys aren't capable of evaluating properly.

But the discussion we have here is closer to whether or not he's the worst coach in the league or weather or not he's a coach that makes it impossible for any team to compete in the playoffs.
