in the past I have questioned Romo's leadership, I questioned this teams toughness, I predicted the chargers would beat us handily and despite the 20-17 score, they beat us pretty handily. I got blasted left and right and was called names, troll, etc. (on the scout message board)
However, I don't think this team is as bad as it seems.what ails this team is coaching and leadership at the coaching level. Look at all the teams in the past 10 years who have won the superbowl...they have had true leaders at the coaching level, who also teach their players how to be leaders and develop their players, instill the mentality in their players. cowher, bilicheck, tomlin, dungy, on down the line.
we lack leadership at the coaching level. the coach is soft, he is ok with losing and he is all about moral victories. the team has taken his persona. they are soft, lack killer instinct and lack discipline required to get to the next level.
however, look at out losses. we weren't dominated in any of the losses, we had a chance to pull everyone of them off and we were in the games until the 4th quarter. that's when our little mistakes, our lack of discipline and our lack of focus and killer instinct caught up with us.
we lost to the giants in the first game, by 2 points. we lost to denver by giving up a big play at the end, we could have, should have beat the giants in this past game, we were in the game until the 4th quarter against GB and a miscue and bad officiating made it 17-0. the defense despite everything has been good enough. except they haven't had the offensive support you see in championship teams to force the other team to be one dimentional
even against the chargers, opportunities wrre there, 10 points left on the field.
JG has been a big disappointment. baltimore and rams are breathing a sigh of relief for not hiring him as a head coach. his offensive game plan is predictable, simple and lacks balance. the defense is starting to fall into the same trap and wade is acting desparate and has lost his mojo and the players see that, that's why we have seen an increase in the big plays against the defense, seemingly players not playing within the scheme and trying to take it on their own. we have 11 individuals playing and not 11 players playing like a team.
like they have said about wade, his teams can't ever stand prosperity and always find a way to come back to the pack.
its obvious we are going to have a coaching change in the off season, I just hope jerry has the balls to bring in a strong coach, with the leadership skills that can take these players to the next level.
in the past I had been sour on Shanahan, but I think he would be a good fit for this team. he has shown, when he has the pieces, he can make it work. his problem has been drafting marginal players....and we have a good scouting dept. that's done fairly well over the past few years.
